Systems Design Engineer - Electronics and Software

Location: Sterling Heights, MI

Pay Rate: $50–$52/hour

Assignment: Long-Term Contract to hire


About the Role

Join our team as a Vehicle Electronic Integration Engineer, where you'll play a key role in the design, integration, and verification of vehicle electronic systems supporting some of the nation’s most advanced defense technologies. This is a long-term contract opportunity perfect for engineers passionate about systems engineering, integration, and military vehicle innovation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and ensure traceability of system, subsystem, and software requirements.
  • Perform functional analysis; develop integrated flows and concepts of operation.
  • Decompose system and subsystem performance and verification requirements.
  • Develop design verification plans and reports.
  • Identify, define, and manage power, data, and other system interfaces.
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance of system, subsystem, and component interfaces.
  • Support management of network bandwidth allocations for vehicle functions.
  • Ensure system design integrity across physical, power, data, and software domains.
  • Integrate and verify system and subsystem components both in lab and vehicle environments.
  • Define and execute integration, testing, and verification plans for systems and subsystems.
  • Provide technical input for project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation.
  • Achieve and demonstrate proficiency in one or more technical domains (e.g., testing, diagnostics, requirements, C4, Software UI design, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline required (Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • Strong experience in system/subsystem/software requirements development, design, and testing.
  • Proficient with data bus design/management and related tools (CAN, Ethernet, 1553, etc.).
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as TEAMCENTER and/or DOORs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems/subsystems effectively.
  • Military vehicle knowledge preferred.
  • Must have experience writing test procedures and technical reports.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. of test equipment as needed.

Additional Requirements

  • Eligible for a U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship required; no sponsorship available).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies.
