Machining Skilled Trades – Industrial Machine Repair Level III (3rd Shift)

Location: Jamestown, NY

Shift: 3rd Shift | 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Hours may vary based on production needs)

Pay: Approximately $39.99/hour ($37.70 base pay + $2.29/hour shift premium)

Position Overview

We're looking for an experienced Industrial Machine Repair Technician to join a skilled maintenance team supporting advanced machining operations. In this role, you'll troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain industrial machinery while helping maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support safe, efficient production.

This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance professional with strong experience in industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, CNC equipment, and automated manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance & Repair

  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, test, and maintain industrial mechanical systems and manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and restore machinery to safe operating condition.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
  • Complete machine installations, layouts, and equipment modifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain equipment to maximize uptime, reliability, and production efficiency.

Production Support

  • Support machining operations by minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Assist with new equipment installations and production start-up activities.
  • Perform inspections to ensure equipment quality, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend process improvements that increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.

Safety

  • Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions.
  • Safely work around electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements.

Team Collaboration

  • Mentor apprentices and less experienced maintenance technicians.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues.
  • Clearly communicate equipment status, repair plans, and technical recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong industrial mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed

One of the Following Is Required

  • 7+ years of industrial maintenance or skilled trades experience
  • Journeyman Trade Certificate with applicable experience
  • Associate degree or two-year technical degree in a related field plus at least 3 years of industrial maintenance or machine repair experience
