Human Resource Representative

Location: Norfolk, VA

Pay Rate: $29.73/hr

Position Overview

HRU is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Human Resource Representative to join our team in Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will support a wide range of HR functions, ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws, and foster a positive, inclusive workplace. This role requires strong HR knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with employees and management at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and files.
  • Process employee data, including new hires, terminations, and benefits updates.
  • Assist with HR projects and initiatives as needed.

Benefits Administration

  • Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Communicate benefits information to employees and respond to benefits-related inquiries.

Communication and Training

  • Communicate HR policies, procedures, and updates to employees and management.

Employee Relations

  • Provide guidance on company policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Investigate and resolve employee concerns fairly and promptly.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that enhances employee engagement and retention.

Recruitment and Hiring

  • Assist with recruitment, including job postings, interviews, and candidate selection.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to ensure compliance with hiring policies.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and confidential handling skills.
  • Proficiency in HR software and systems, including HRIS and benefits platforms.

Experience Required

  • 2–3 years of experience in human resources or a related field.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
