Maintenance Supervisor – Body Shop Operations
Location: Spring Hill, TN
Contract: 12 months (possible extensions and/or direct hire)
Compensation: $44 to 46/hour, with PTO and optional benefits
Note: Candidates must be able to support all three shifts. Shift rotation is determined by operational needs and leadership coverage.
Position Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor leads and supports maintenance operations within a high-volume automotive body shop environment. This role supervises maintenance mechanics and electricians to ensure production equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime.
The supervisor partners closely with production, engineering, and other maintenance leaders to support welding and body assembly operations. This role requires strong leadership, technical understanding of manufacturing equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot issues that impact production throughput.
This is a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams while directly impacting production performance and quality.
Schedule
The maintenance team operates across three shifts, and candidates must be open to working any shift.
Available Shifts

1st Shift: 5:30 AM – 3:00 PM

2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 1:00 AM

3rd Shift: 9:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Additional Schedule Details

Initial training will occur on 1st shift for approximately 2–3 weeks.

Supervisors typically work every other weekend or approximately one weekend per month.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and support maintenance mechanics and electricians within the body shop production area.

Conduct daily startup meetings prior to shift to review safety, priorities, and operational needs.

Remain on the production floor to support maintenance teams and respond to equipment breakdowns.

Troubleshoot and coordinate repairs to maintain production line uptime.

Partner closely with production teams, engineering, and maintenance leadership to resolve equipment issues.
Team & Operational Management
- Manage day-to-day team responsibilities including:
- Payroll administration
- Safety compliance
- Quality standards
- Maintenance support and resource allocation

Coordinate the acquisition of replacement parts and materials when needed.

Oversee maintenance activities for up to 15 hourly maintenance employees.

Track and report operational performance, including equipment reliability and improvement initiatives.

Participate in weekly reviews focused on throughput improvements and business plan deployment initiatives.

Promote continuous improvement efforts related to equipment reliability, production efficiency, and safety.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree required (field of study not specified).

Minimum 8 years of relevant maintenance or manufacturing experience.

Prior experience supervising or leading maintenance teams.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

Ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.

Willingness to learn and adapt within a complex production environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting automotive manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with automotive welding processes and associated quality standards.

Experience working with FANUC robotics or similar industrial automation platforms.
