This role is highly technical and execution-focused, requiring deep expertise in power integrity, systematic hardware debug, and component-level troubleshooting to ensure boards are fully validated and ready for firmware integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initial board bring-up for new carrier card and hardware integrations
- Verify proper power sequencing, voltage rail integrity, and signal paths
- Perform detailed hardware debug using systematic, measurement-driven methodologies
- Analyze and troubleshoot power integrity, signal integrity, clocking, and thermal issues
- Interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and design documentation to validate hardware behavior
- Use laboratory test equipment effectively, including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Multimeters
- Power supplies
- Logic analyzers
- Apply best-practice measurement techniques to avoid noise injection, loading effects, or inaccurate readings
- Evaluate component substitutions and design trade-offs during debug and validation
- Collaborate closely with firmware developers, test engineers, and cross-functional teams
- Document bring-up procedures, findings, root causes, and corrective actions clearly and thoroughly
- Ensure hardware is properly characterized and stable prior to firmware integration
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experience
- Strong expertise in:
- Power integrity and power supply design
- Hardware debug and root-cause analysis
- Signal integrity and clock distribution
- Component-level troubleshooting
- Proficiency reading and interpreting:
- Schematics
- PCB layouts
- Design documentation
- Experience leading or owning board bring-up activities
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as the original board designer, with the ability to leverage design intent during bring-up
- Advanced knowledge of thermal management considerations
- Experience working closely with firmware and validation teams in early hardware phases
Additional Information
