Sales Engineer
Location: Waukesha, WI
Salary Range: $90,000 – $95,000 per year

About the Role
The Sales Engineer provides both technical and consultative support to prospective and existing customers, specializing in automated manufacturing systems including robotics, welding, material handling, and assembly solutions. This hybrid role combines technical acumen with sales excellence to secure business, support project delivery, and contribute to profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Relationship Management
- Identify and develop new customer relationships while expanding business with existing clients.
- Serve as the primary contact throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring ongoing customer engagement.
- Solution Engineering
- Collaborate with customers to understand and define project requirements.
- Develop technical proposals, estimates, and quotations leveraging the latest industry technologies.
- Recommend innovative design and equipment changes tailored to client needs.
- Project & Resource Management
- Partner with internal project managers and engineers to ensure solutions meet technical, functional, budgetary, and timeline objectives.
- Assist in identifying resource needs and monitoring project progress.
- Provide clear, actionable information to assist project planning and execution.
- Market Intelligence & Marketing Support
- Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies in manufacturing automation.
- Support marketing initiatives to promote solutions and drive sales growth.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to all safety and quality standards.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain records in CRM systems.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (AA) and 7+ years of related experience/training required; Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Proven track record (7+ years) in technical sales, ideally in industrial automation.
- Experience with project, engineering, or service management.
- Proficient with CRM software (MS Dynamics preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and engineering tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel (up to 50%).

Travel & Targets
- Willingness to travel (up to 50%) for client visits and project oversight; remaining time spent building relationships and creating solutions.
- Expected individual sales contribution: $5-$10M annually.
