Machine Repair Technician
Location: Los Angeles, CA (LAX Airport)
Contract: 6 months (potential for extension or direct hire)
Compensation: $34/hour + paid sick leave + optional benefits
Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM | Monday–Sunday (must be available for weekdays and weekends as needed)
Position Summary
The Machine Repair Technician II is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) systems and related mechanical and electrical equipment in an airport environment. This role supports both scheduled and emergency maintenance to ensure operational reliability, safety, and accurate documentation within CMMS systems.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PBB systems and associated equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM)
- Repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Respond promptly to equipment failures and operational issues
Operations Support
- Respond to and resolve baggage system jams
- Operate forklifts, company vehicles, and carts as needed
- Follow manuals, schematics, and work orders to complete tasks accurately
Documentation & Systems
- Document maintenance activities in CMMS systems
- Complete maintenance logs and reports
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards and procedures
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety programs and policies
- Work safely in high-risk environments (aircraft ramps, equipment areas)
- Maintain situational awareness and proper use of PPE
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance
- 3–5 years of maintenance experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 480V systems and 3-phase motors
- Strong mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills
- Experience in airport or industrial environments
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
- Experience with passenger boarding bridges or conveyance systems
- Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Work in confined spaces and at heights (ladder use required)
- Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Strong hand-eye coordination and visual acuity
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Work Environment
- Airport operational environment with exposure to:
- Aircraft operations and heavy equipment
- Moving mechanical parts and elevated work areas
- Weather conditions, fumes, chemicals, and vibration
- High noise levels (PPE required)
