We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead our safety initiatives and ensure a safe, compliant, and healthy work environment at our Penbryn plant. With over 200 employees and 24/7 operations, this role is critical to maintaining our commitment to employee well-being and regulatory excellence.
The Health & Safety Manager will oversee two direct reports—a Safety Specialist and an hourly Safety Technician—with the potential to expand the team in the near future. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to drive safety culture throughout the facility. You’ll partner closely with the Environmental Manager and Facility Nurse to champion workplace safety across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs aligned with OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards.
- Manage and enforce plant safety policies and procedures.
- Assign, track, and report on all required safety and regulatory training.
- Oversee workers compensation cases, including doctor visits, light duty assignments, reporting, and forecasting.
- Conduct safety audits, identify hazards, develop corrective actions, and monitor progress.
- Manage the health and safety budget, including PPE, supplies, and first aid resources.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly safety performance reports.
- Act as Medical First Responder, leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and case management.
- Conduct safety reviews during Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Perform other duties as needed to support safety and compliance initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Five or more years of safety leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and Workers Compensation regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in hazard recognition, incident investigation, and case management.
- Certified in First Aid, AED, and CPR.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with plant leadership.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10 days per year).
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied plant conditions, including heat, cold, noise, and heights.
