Senior Software Engineer – Embedded Systems

Location: Maple Grove, MN

Pay: $50 to $60/hour

Develop Mission-Critical Embedded Software

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate embedded software for advanced defense systems. This is a 90% hands-on coding role with 10% technical leadership, ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex problems while mentoring others and leading technical efforts.

You'll collaborate with Systems Engineering, Software Architecture, Cybersecurity, Verification, and Program Management to deliver high-quality software for cutting-edge defense programs.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded C++ software
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements through system testing
• Develop software in RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded environments
• Lead software activities on assigned projects while remaining hands-on
• Support software integration, verification, and validation
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
• Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards
• Support project planning, scheduling, and Earned Value Management (EVM)

What We're Looking For

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

Experience

• Bachelor's + 5 years, Master's + 3 years, or Ph.D. + 1 year of relevant experience

Technical Skills

• Embedded C++
• Object-Oriented Design
• RTOS and/or bare-metal systems
• Ethernet communications
• Software integration and verification
• Embedded software development lifecycle

Preferred

• Defense or aerospace experience
• CMMI, RMF, or ATO knowledge
• Active Secret Security Clearance

Clearance

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
• Active Secret Clearance preferred
