Material Planning Coordinator (MPC) – Defense Programs

Position Overview

The Material Planning Coordinator (MPC) supports material operations for a defense refurbishment program, ensuring the efficient flow of materials, kits, and components to meet production schedules and operational commitments. This role is responsible for inventory control, material handling, and coordination across warehouse and operations teams to prevent shortages and maintain continuity of work.

The ideal candidate brings strong supply chain experience, ERP system knowledge, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Material Planning & Coordination

  • Support the flow of materials, kits, hardware, and components to meet production and refurbishment schedules
  • Perform kit builds and ensure materials are available at the point of use
  • Respond to material shortages due to lost, damaged, or defective items to prevent work stoppages

Inventory & Warehouse Operations

  • Receive, issue, and track government and contractor-provided materials
  • Conduct inventory management and cycle counts
  • Support warehouse operations and material handling activities
  • Participate in the implementation of Point of Use (POU) material systems

Systems & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of material status and warehouse activities
  • Utilize ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and spreadsheets for tracking and reporting
  • Manage documentation related to material requests, work orders, and inventory

Cross-Functional Support

  • Coordinate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure alignment with production goals
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and customers
  • Identify and support process improvements and problem resolution initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or material planning
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle or similar)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
  • Customer-focused mindset with a sense of urgency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in:
  • Material coordination, inventory control, or warehouse operations
  • ERP-driven environments
  • Bill of Materials (BOMs)
  • Managing material requests, work orders, and reservations in Oracle
  • Military logistics experience, such as 92A Automated Logistical Specialist
  • Experience supporting defense or government programs

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Logistics or Materials Management
  • Related field
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Additional training or certification in Oracle ERP/SCM is a plus
