About the Role
Kawasaki Robotics is a global leader in industrial robotics and advanced automation solutions supporting a wide range of industries worldwide. We are seeking a Robot Application Engineer to join our Semiconductor Robot Engineering team in San Jose, CA.
In this role, you will lead the development, testing, and implementation of robotic automation solutions tailored for semiconductor manufacturing applications. This position combines hands-on engineering, customer interaction, and cross-functional technical leadership to deliver high-performance robotic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical contact supporting customer semiconductor robotic application requests
- Lead prototype development projects from concept through validation while ensuring delivery within project timelines
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and prototype engineering teams to develop robotic automation solutions
- Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot robotic system performance issues and provide technical guidance and resolution strategies
- Support system installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites (domestic and international travel required)
- Assist in continuous improvement of robotic applications and engineering processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software
- Understanding of automation systems including operational theory, components, and failure modes
- Basic programming logic knowledge related to automation or robotics systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced engineering environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

1–3 years of engineering experience within automation, robotics, or semiconductor environments
Preferred Qualifications

1–5 years of experience in robotics, automation, or semiconductor engineering
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Siemens NX
- Hands-on experience supporting robotic or automated production systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, or carry items up to 25 lbs
- Comfortable standing, bending, and working with mechanical components and tools
- Ability to use common mechanical tools including torque wrenches, hex keys, and hand tools
