Technical Writer

Location: Frisco, TX

Pay: $40.25-60.35/hr

Contract - 6 months with the possibility to be extended


Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and process-driven Technical Writer to develop, standardize, and maintain high-quality documentation across the organization. This role will be responsible for authoring and improving work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate can translate complex workflows into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation that supports efficiency, compliance, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Standardize formatting, structure, and terminology across all work instructions and process documentation
  • Author, revise, and maintain detailed work instructions for operational and technical processes
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Create end-to-end process documentation, including workflows, decision trees, and process maps
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture accurate technical and operational knowledge
  • Conduct documentation audits to identify gaps, redundancies, and improvement opportunities
  • Ensure documentation aligns with internal standards, compliance requirements, and best practices
  • Maintain version control and change management processes for documentation updates
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by refining documentation to reflect optimized workflows
  • Organize and manage documentation repositories for easy accessibility and usability

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, process documentation, or similar role
  • Proven experience developing work instructions and SOPs
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical information into clear, structured documentation
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written, editing, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, operations, aerospace, or defense environments
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO, AS9100)
  • Experience with documentation management systems or knowledge management tools
  • Understanding of change management and document control processes
