We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant with a minimum of 4 years of professional accounting experience, including specific expertise in cost accounting and inventory management within production of culinary and dining products and by-product (food & beverage).
The successful candidate will analyze product costs, maintain inventory accounting records, and support month-end close activities to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective inventory control for the operations of a manufacturing facility that produces food products and related precursors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile inventory sub-ledgers and general ledger accounts (raw materials, WIP, finished goods).
- Calculate and analyze product costs, including standard costing, actual costing, and variance analysis (material, labor, overhead).
- Prepare and investigate cost variances and provide recommendations to management to improve cost control and profitability.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Develop, maintain, and improve costing models, standard cost updates, and inventory valuation methods.
- Collaborate with operations, purchasing and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory counts, costing data, and process improvements.
- Assist with physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, GAAP, and internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting.
- Participate in ad-hoc financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience with demonstrated focus on cost accounting and inventory management.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average, standard cost), and cost variance analysis.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and ERP software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience implementing process improvements and internal controls preferred.
- CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Schedule: Full-time, on-site, 40 hours per week
Compensation: $90,000 per year with benefits package which includes full; health coverage, paid time off, year-end performance bonuses and other incentives as presented by employer, a multi-national and centuries-old manufacturing organization headquartered in Europe.
