Accounts Payable Specialist
Seward, Nebraska, United States
Apply for this job

An Established Company. A First-of-Its-Kind Facility. An Opportunity to Help Build What's Next.

Some career opportunities offer stability. Others offer the excitement of being part of something new. This one brings both together.

Insight Recruitment is partnering with a highly successful, established, family-owned agricultural company that's making a significant investment in an extraordinary new manufacturing operation in Seward, Nebraska.

The facility incorporates advanced production technology and capabilities described by its leadership as unlike anything currently operating elsewhere in the United States. It's a major step forward for the business, with substantial plans for the future.

And while the manufacturing operation is new, the company behind it is not. You'll have the opportunity to join at the ground level of a developing operation, backed by an established organization with a proven history of success.

We're seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist who wants more than a position processing invoices. This is an opportunity to become an important early member of the finance team, help establish accounting procedures, and build a foundation that will support the facility as it grows.

The Opportunity

You'll report directly to an experienced, approachable accounting leader who believes in giving people the support and independence they need to do their best work.

Because the facility is still preparing for full production, you'll have an unusual advantage: time to learn the business, understand the systems, develop relationships, and help put sound AP processes in place before the pace accelerates.

As manufacturing operations ramp up in 2027, transaction volume and responsibilities will increase. You'll already know the operation and have helped establish the processes it depends on.

For the right person, that early involvement could become a valuable foundation for a long-term career with a growing organization.

What You'll Be Responsible For

· Manage the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt and verification through payment.

· Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.

· Perform three-way matching of purchase orders, receiving documentation, and invoices.

· Investigate and resolve discrepancies involving pricing, quantities, purchase orders, and vendor accounts.

· Prepare and process payments, including ACH, checks, and wire transfers.

· Maintain accurate vendor records, payment information, and supporting documentation.

· Handle invoices associated with manufacturing operations, equipment, materials, freight, maintenance, and other operating expenses.

· Ensure appropriate general ledger coding and expense classification.

· Reconcile vendor statements, review AP aging, and assist with month-end accounting activities.

· Collaborate with Purchasing, Receiving, Warehouse, Production, and Finance to resolve issues and maintain accurate records.

· Work within the company's NetSuite ERP environment.

· Help develop and refine AP procedures, workflows, documentation, and internal controls as the operation grows.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience and Skills

· Approximately 2–5 years of hands-on accounts payable experience, ideally at least 3 years.

· Experience in a manufacturing environment, including food manufacturing or processing.

· Practical experience with a major ERP accounting system.

· Solid understanding of full-cycle AP, purchase orders, three-way matching, vendor reconciliations, and general ledger coding.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions.

· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

· A dependable, accountable approach to work and the confidence to solve problems independently.

Especially Valuable

· Hands-on Oracle NetSuite experience.

· Experience in food manufacturing or another inventory-intensive production environment.

· Experience establishing or improving AP procedures.

· Exposure to ERP implementations, new facilities, or growing accounting departments.

· An associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.

A degree is preferred but not required when supported by strong, relevant experience.

Why This Opportunity Stands Apart

The chance to join at the beginning — without starting from scratch financially. The facility is new, but the organization behind it is established, successful, and investing significantly in its future.

A genuinely distinctive manufacturing operation. You'll be working at a newly built facility incorporating technology and capabilities that its leadership describes as unique in the United States.

A chance to make the position your own. Rather than stepping into a department where every process has been in place for years, you'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, establish procedures, and help create an efficient AP function.

Long-term career potential. As the facility moves into production and the business expands, there may be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and develop professionally.

Leadership that values independence. You'll work with a supportive manager who appreciates honesty, initiative, accountability, and good judgment — without unnecessary micromanagement.

A grounded, approachable culture. The company maintains a family-owned atmosphere, with practical leadership, casual dress, and an emphasis on people who work well together.

A predictable work schedule. This is generally a 40-hour-per-week, Monday–Friday position, with the option of starting at 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM.

Compensation and Benefits

· $55,000–$75,000 annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications.

· Medical insurance benefits.

· Paid vacation, sick time, and company holidays.

· A stable, established employer investing in significant long-term growth.

· The opportunity to contribute to the development of a new accounting operation.

Location and Additional Information

This is a permanent, fully on-site position in Seward, Nebraska, accessible to professionals commuting from Lincoln and surrounding communities.

Initial training may involve approximately one week at another company location in Rising City, Nebraska.

The company is targeting a late-2026 or early-2027 start and can discuss timing with qualified candidates.
