Financial Controller – Manufacturing

Seward, Nebraska | $100,000–$135,000 + Bonus

Help Build the Finance Function Behind a Brand-New Manufacturing Operation

Some Controller opportunities are about stepping into an established department and maintaining what's already there.

This one is different.

We're partnering with an established, successful dairy organization as it builds a brand-new dairy beverage processing operation in Seward, Nebraska. With the facility and finance organization taking shape, they're adding a Financial Controller who wants the opportunity to get in early, work broadly across the accounting function and grow alongside the business.

It's a rare combination: the chance to help build something new with the backing and stability of an established company.

This Could Be Your Next Step

You don't necessarily need to already be a Controller at a large manufacturing company.

You may be a strong Senior Accountant, Cost Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or smaller-company Controller who's ready for more ownership and a clearer path forward.

What matters most is that you've developed solid accounting fundamentals, understand a manufacturing environment and enjoy being close enough to the numbers to understand what's really happening in the business.

You'll Have the Opportunity To

  • Take increasing ownership of the accounting function as responsibilities transition and the business grows
  • Work across month-end close, journal entries, GL and reconciliations
  • Develop further depth in manufacturing cost and inventory accounting
  • Investigate variances and understand the operational story behind the numbers
  • Work across multiple accounting areas—including AP, AR or payroll when needed—rather than being confined to one narrow specialty
  • Help establish dependable accounting processes and practical controls
  • Work directly with senior leaders and the people operating the business
  • Help improve processes as production scales
  • Eventually help train and develop additional accounting staff as the finance organization expands

Where Could It Lead?

That's one of the most appealing aspects of this opportunity.

The finance organization is expected to grow alongside both the manufacturing operation and the company's branded-products business. Depending on your strengths and interests, your path could eventually move toward:

Plant Controller • CPG/Branded Products Controller • Broader Controller Responsibility • Senior Finance Leadership

This isn't a promise of a particular future title. It is an opportunity to join an organization early enough that your capabilities can help determine where your career goes as the business grows.

What We'd Like You to Bring

We're looking for someone with:

  • Meaningful accounting experience within manufacturing or a plant environment
  • Strong accounting fundamentals
  • Hands-on month-end close, GL and reconciliation experience
  • Exposure to manufacturing cost accounting
  • Exposure to inventory accounting and controls
  • The ability and curiosity to investigate variances and discrepancies
  • ERP experience and comfort learning new systems
  • A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality
  • Strong follow-through and accountability
  • A desire to grow with the organization for the long term

Experience in dairy or beverage manufacturing is not required. Strong accounting experience from food manufacturing, protein, ingredients, agricultural processing, CPG, industrial manufacturing or another plant-based environment can be highly relevant.

The organization uses NetSuite. Direct experience is a strong plus, but it's not a requirement.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated base salary is $100,000–$135,000, depending on experience, plus:

  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • 100% employer-paid family medical insurance
  • Dental and vision coverage
  • PTO flexibility
  • 401(k)
  • Relocation assistance may be available

This position is fully onsite in Seward, Nebraska.

Interested in Building Rather Than Just Maintaining?

If you're a manufacturing accountant who's ready to broaden your responsibilities—or a Controller who likes being hands-on and sees the appeal of getting involved while a new operation is still taking shape—we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today, and we'll be happy to share more about the company, the facility and where this opportunity could take you.
