About the Opportunity

Are you a proven sales professional ready to run your own market — combining the grit of field sales with the rewards of building a new territory from the ground up? This is a rare opportunity to be the very first hire in a brand new region for a respected national supplier of heavy equipment wear parts and steel products.

You’ll step into an entrepreneurial role, backed by decades of industry success, where you can put your stamp on the local market and directly influence how the business grows — all while immediately benefiting from an existing book of business. From the office to customer sites to the warehouse, you’ll have the autonomy, resources, and support to drive success and shape your long-term career.

What You’ll Do

  • Grow a new market while handling existing clients: Inherit relationships with established accounts in the region, so you’ll have revenue flowing from day one — while actively prospecting and developing new customers to expand the business.
  • Enjoy a fast sales cycle: Many customers need products immediately, so you’ll often be able to close deals and deliver solutions on your very first call.
  • Face-to-face sales: Spend roughly 50% of your time on the road making in-person visits, cold and warm calls, attending trade shows, and following up — primarily day trips within ~150 miles, with about 10–20% involving overnight stays.
  • Run local operations: Oversee office activities, manage inventory and warehouse functions, coordinate deliveries, and handle estimates, invoices, and CRM updates.
  • Solve problems on-site: Personally deliver products, operate forklifts, or demonstrate parts to ensure clients receive exceptional service.
  • Shape the future team: As the branch grows, you’ll help hire and mentor future sales and support staff — paving your own path toward local sales leadership.
  • Contribute ideas: Not just follow processes — you’ll improve them, helping refine workflows, sales strategy, and customer service delivery.

The Long-Term Opportunity

This is truly a ground-floor position in a new territory. As the very first hire here, you’ll lay the foundation for success in the region.

  • Career growth is built in: Top performers can expect to step into leadership roles, overseeing additional salespeople and helping build out the local branch.
  • You’ll be fully supported with resources, product training, and mentorship to ensure you’re set up to succeed — both in immediate sales growth and your long-term career goals.

What Success Looks Like

  • Quickly builds trust and a solid customer base by expanding business with existing accounts and developing new relationships.
  • Drives consistent sales volume, taking advantage of a short sales cycle that rewards persistence and responsiveness.
  • Earns rave reviews from clients for hands-on, solutions-oriented service.
  • Demonstrates leadership potential and helps shape the future team as the operation expands.

Who You Are

  • Sales-driven: At least 5 years in outside sales, business development, or territory management, with a track record of driving growth through personal relationships.
  • Industry familiar: You’ve sold to or worked directly with construction contractors, heavy equipment operators, maintenance crews, or similar sectors.
  • Hands-on leader: Just as comfortable on a job site taking accurate measurements or operating a forklift as you are preparing proposals and closing deals.
  • Mechanically inclined: You understand how parts fit into the bigger picture and can confidently educate customers on solutions.
  • Tech-savvy & organized: Proficient with CRM tools, spreadsheets, and inventory/accounting software — you keep your pipeline clean and follow through.
  • Dependable & energetic: Positive, self-starting, a team player — and willing to roll up your sleeves to do what it takes.
  • Requirements: Clean driving record, able to lift 100+ lbs following OSHA guidelines.

What’s Offered

  • Base salary: $55,000–$65,000, plus commissions that realistically add 50%+ to base in your first year. Top sales reps earn $150,000+.
  • Bonuses: Annual performance-based bonuses.
  • Full benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K with 4% match.
  • Time off: 15 days of PTO plus paid holidays.
  • Tools & travel: Company truck, laptop, tablet, phone — plus all travel expenses covered, with a nightly per diem.
  • Work/life balance: Normal hours are 7:30-5:00, typically home each night, with only occasional overnight travel.

Why This Role is Different

This isn’t a typical sit-behind-the-desk sales job. It’s an opportunity to immediately step into a territory with active accounts, build it like it’s your own business, and enjoy a fast sales cycle where you can make an impact — and earn — right away.

You’ll have the full support of an established company, the freedom to grow the market your way, and a clear path to leadership as the operation expands.
