Apply for this job

Location: Private residence near Lincoln, Nebraska

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Approximately 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

About the Role

A private, values-driven family is seeking an exceptional Household Manager & Nanny to serve as a trusted right-hand partner in running a busy, well-structured home.

This is not a traditional nanny role, and it is not a light household coordination position. It is a hands-on, career-level opportunity for someone who takes pride in follow-through, anticipates needs, and enjoys being deeply involved in the daily rhythm of a household.

Think modern-day Mary Poppins: warm, capable, organized, calm, and dependable — someone who quietly makes everything run better.

This is a long-term role (5+ years) for the right person who values stability, professionalism, and meaningful work.

The Role at a Glance

This integrated position combines hands-on household management with school-aged childcare. You will be trusted to personally execute daily household operations while providing steady, confident support for the children.

This is a salaried, trust-based role — not an hourly or clock-watching position. The family values ownership, responsiveness, and mutual respect over micromanagement. This role is best suited for someone who takes pride in being deeply involved and prefers ownership over strict boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

Household Operations (Hands-On Execution)

  • Personally manage daily household operations with a high standard of care and organization
  • Daily tidying, light cleaning, and proactive upkeep of living spaces
  • Full laundry management (sorting, stain treatment, folding, and putting away)
  • Grocery shopping, household inventory, and simple meal prep (comfortable handling and preparing meat-based meals following recipes)
  • Household organization systems and regular resets
  • Vendor coordination, service scheduling, and routine property needs
  • Managing household calendars, appointments, returns, and online orders
  • Running errands and overseeing household logistics

Childcare & Family Support

  • Afternoon and after-school support for school-aged children (ages 10–12)
  • Homework routines, snacks, transportation to activities, and structure around screen time
  • Care during sick days, school breaks, and schedule disruptions
  • Occasional morning support or school drop-off as needed (not daily)
  • Serving as a calm, emotionally steady adult presence in the home

Pets

  • Daily care of the family’s dogs (feeding, cleanup, supply management)
  • Supporting children in pet responsibilities
  • Must genuinely enjoy animals and be comfortable with daily pet care

Who Thrives in This Role

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Takes pride in tangible, hands-on work and visible results
  • Is exceptionally reliable — things do not fall through the cracks
  • Is organized, detail-oriented, and systems-minded
  • Anticipates needs and takes initiative without being asked
  • Is calm, warm, and confident with school-aged children
  • Enjoys being physically active and on the move throughout the day in a multi-level home
  • Is emotionally mature, discreet, and professional
  • Is comfortable working in a Christian household where faith-based language and values are part of daily life
  • Is seeking a long-term career role, not a stepping-stone position

Common successful backgrounds include experienced household managers, senior executive assistants, career nannies with strong household skills, hospitality managers, educators, or mature professionals seeking meaningful, stable work.

  • Eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus

Schedule & Work Style

  • Trust-based environment without rigid or fixed lunch break times
  • Short breaks and meals may be taken as needed, with the expectation that responsibilities are covered and responsiveness is maintained
  • Downtime during quieter parts of the day is typically used for administrative tasks such as processing returns, submitting receipts, or planning
  • Flexibility exists on occasion (e.g., coming in later or leaving early when appropriate), balanced by the overall needs of the household

If you’ve been described as the person who quietly brings order, calm, and consistency wherever you go — and you enjoy caring for a home and children with excellence — this may be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Applicants of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The family values respect, professionalism, and alignment with their household culture.
