About Our Client

ErthSearch is working with OptiGrid, a venture-backed startup revolutionizing EV infrastructure. They build battery-based energy storage systems that provide ultrafast charging and resilient power alternatives, decentralized from the traditional grid to accelerate sustainable electrification.

The Role

As a Thermal System Engineer, you will be the architect behind the thermal systems managing next-generation battery and power electronics platforms. This is a hands-on role where you will drive designs from initial concept and prototype testing through to volume production with manufacturing partners. You will directly influence product reliability and performance, helping to open new markets and drive EV technology forward. 

Qualifications & Skills

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience specifically designing thermal management systems.
• Deep knowledge of battery thermal systems, large-scale cooling (forced air and refrigerant), and thermal solutions for power electronics.
• Proven experience taking designs into volume production using sheet metal, extrusion, and injection molding.
• Advanced 3D CAD skills and thorough knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards.

Nice to have

• A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of experience in electronics packaging.
• Proven success with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling and validation.
• Background in EV supply equipment (EVSE) product design and lithium-ion battery systems.
• High proficiency with PTC Creo Parametric CAD software and experience using Arena and Windchill PLM tools.
