About Our Client

Roosevelt Talent is working with Helix Earth, an award-winning clean tech startup spun out of Rice University and NASA that is transforming how commercial buildings handle humidity. Their core technology dramatically cuts air conditioning energy use and improves indoor air quality, directly addressing a sector on track to account for 10% of global CO2 emissions by 2050. 

The Role 

They are seeking a Director of Operations to join their team onsite in Houston, TX, and own the internal operating system end-to-end. Starting as a hands-on player-coach, this leader will build the people and process infrastructure, manage functional leaders across manufacturing, finance, and people ops, and serve as connective tissue across internal departments. Additional responsibilities include owning day-to-day financial operations, field service deployments, EHS compliance, and corporate performance tracking with the CEO and Board.  

Qualifications & Skills

Required

• 10+ years of operations leadership experience (ideally including budget or P&L ownership) within a hardware, manufacturing, or physical-product company.  
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field.  
• Proven startup operating experience in hardware or deep tech environments transitioning from R&D to commercialization under ambiguity and limited resources.  
• Strong financial fluency with experience owning company budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial controls.  
• Willingness and ability to work full-time onsite in Houston, TX.

Nice to have:

• Founder experience or early-stage (Series A or high-growth) startup experience.  
• Industry experience in HVAC, building technology, hardware manufacturing, or related fields.  
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.  
• Familiarity with EHS (chemical handling, site safety) or field service/installed-base support operations, as well as sales operations/revenue forecasting.
