Seeking a senior Project Manager from a civil construction background to make a move into the strategic world of consulting services and client-side work. This role will establish and lead the formation of the Auckland branch office for the business - the company's 2nd office in New Zealand, responsible for managing and leading work, interacting with clients, undertaking complex, large-scale projects, and managing and leading employees.
If you are getting frustrated with ongoing site issues and feel like the long construction hours are not as worth it anymore, this role will allow you to leverage your years of construction knowledge in a professional consulting environment while staying deeply connected to the industry. You'll be valued by clients as a trusted professional advisor and make a real difference to large-scale civil projects.
Working in a flat structure and reporting to the Director, you'll have the opportunity to gain equity in the business after a period of time and help create a valuable asset for the future.
Role responsibilities include:
- Providing constructability advice and cost estimate-based support to projects
- Work with asset owners and their designers to provide advice and input into the planning, design and delivery of a range of projects.
- Input into project feasibility and optioneering processes from a construction cost, method, time and risk perspective
- Developing and assessment of different construction methodologies
- Development and assessment of construction risk
- Design management
- Engineers Representative/Contract Administration
- Project Management
- Tender evaluation, subject matter expert
- Project Controls Management (programme, risk, cost, process)
- Project Reviews
Project Scope:

- Council public infrastructure

- Various other infrastructure projects
To be successful in this role you will require:
- 10yrs+ experience in the civil construction industry, working as a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer with recent, significant experience in the local New Zealand market
- Major projects experience at ideally at Tier 1 level
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or closely related qualification
- Previous team management experience
- Excellent communication skills along with the propensity and willingness to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders, and develop new business
