A well-funded mining company is looking for a Senior Metallurgist to join a long-life gold and critical mineral operation in a residential role which offers a 5:2, 4:3 roster.

Reporting to the Processing Manager, you will be responsible for the metallurgical performance of the processing production department, ensuring safety, cost and production targets are met.

The role ensures optimal throughput, recovery, product quality, and stable operation across all processing unit operations, while maintaining accurate metallurgical accounting, supporting tailings and water management, and ensuring effective reconciliation between mine production and plant performance.

Key Responsibilities and experience will include: 

• Ensure metallurgical activities comply with site safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor, analyse, and report daily metallurgical performance of the crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening, filtration, and gravity circuits.
• Review daily production results and identify opportunities to improve recovery, throughput, and product quality.
• Maintain and manage the site metallurgical accounting system, ensuring accurate metal balances and reporting.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly metallurgical balances and performance reports.
• Liaise with Mining and Geology teams to reconcile plant feed grades against mine production and geological models.
• Investigate reconciliation variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide metallurgical input into tailings deposition strategies and ongoing tailings performance
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to plant metallurgists and technical staff where applicable.
• Contribute to operating procedures, metallurgical standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
