Senior Civil Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer for a key design leadership opportunity within a specialist engineering business delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects across New Zealand.

Based in Auckland, you will lead and deliver high-quality civil and structural design solutions across a portfolio of multidisciplinary projects — from concept and detailed design through to technical assurance and construction observation.

This is a technically hands-on role where you will take ownership of civil design outputs while coordinating closely with mechanical, electrical and process teams to ensure practical, compliant and buildable outcomes.

Leaders in their space, this organisation is known for delivering mechanically intensive infrastructure projects that require strong civil–mechanical integration, high technical standards and collaborative delivery.

To be successful in this role you will require:

• 7+ years’ experience delivering civil design from concept through to detailed design

• Strong background in earthworks, drainage and utility design

• Proven experience coordinating civil works with mechanical systems (plant foundations, pipe supports, equipment loads and interfaces)

• Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams

• Strong technical writing, calculation and reporting capability

• Practical understanding of structural design principles

• Site-based experience supporting construction teams and resolving design interface issues

• Awareness of construction Health & Safety requirements

• BE (Civil) or equivalent tertiary qualification

Desirable:

• Experience within water and wastewater treatment projects

• Knowledge of mechanical equipment and chemical storage/handling requirements

• Exposure to ground improvement design techniques

• Working toward or holding Chartered Engineer status
