The Paralegal role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities that support the efficiency and effectiveness of legal services provided by a Firm. This position involves a deeper level of engagement and involvement with case management, legal research, and document preparation, ensuring that solicitors have all the necessary tools and information to represent their clients successfully. With a blend of experience and knowledge in legal procedures and documentation, the Paralegal serves as a cornerstone for the legal team, facilitating smoother workflows and enhancing the quality of legal service delivery. Their expertise not only aids in the meticulous preparation of legal documents but also planning of cases and providing administration support making them an indispensable part of the legal team.


Responsibilities

  • Researching for legal cases
  • Preparing first drafts of legal documents
  • Reviewing legal documents for fee earners
  • Handling confidential client or case information
  • Contacting Courts
  • Organising legal files
  • Undertaking general office work
  • Direct engagement with clients and judicial bodies, ensuring clear and compassionate communication.
  • Allocation of workload among team members (mainly other Paralegals)
  • Supervision and development of junior staff including running training sessions
  • Provision of support to all fee-earners in the firm
  • Type digitally dictated and other documents with accuracy and attention to detail, meeting all reasonable deadlines
  • Manage case preparation for hearings including deadlines
  • Answering external phone calls
  • Specialising on certain areas of the law to assist fee earners
  • Time recording for fee earners
  • Managing fee earners inboxes
  • Taking notes at formal meetings
  • Ad-hoc project work
  • Managing and completing Data Subject Access Requests
  • Assisting the HR team with HR work when required
  • Instruction and liaising with Chambers and bargaining where required
  • Regular networking in the local area


Requirements

  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role
  • An understanding of employment law
  • Proactive attitude always looking for improvements or extra steps to improve the client journey
  • Brilliant communication skills and able to build strong working relationships with team and clients
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Good time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Typing speed of at least 60 wpm.
  • Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills
