Position Description
The Major Gifts Director is a key member of TRIAD’s U.S. Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for building and scaling the development function to sustain and grow TRIAD’s mission to advance the gospel among the hardest-to-reach places and people groups. Reporting to the U.S. executive director, the advancement director will play a catalytic role in shaping a comprehensive fundraising strategy and cultivating a portfolio of Kingdom-minded partners – including individuals, churches, and foundations – who align with TRIAD’s core convictions and vision.
This leader will operate from a posture of ministry, viewing fundraising as a spiritual calling and discipleship opportunity. They will embody humility, communicate TRIAD’s field-driven vision with clarity, and embrace both the relational and strategic aspects of gospel-centered development work.
Reports to: U.S. Executive Director
Direct Reports: 0 (support staff available to assist and potential team growth possible)
Domestic Travel: 2 trips per month for donor meetings, events, and church visits (including occasional weekends)
International Travel: 3 trips annually, primarily to Armenia and other field locations, often accompanying major donors on vision trips
This role requires regular travel to maintain strong donor relationships and connect supporters with TRIAD’s global mission
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy & Key Focus Areas
- Advance TRIAD’s mission by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding significant donor relationships personally.
- Collaborate with the executive director to build a sustainable major gifts program.
- Guide donor engagement rooted in TRIAD’s core convictions: glorifying the King, compelling the Church, and overcoming barriers.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Build a portfolio of major donors and prospects aligned with TRIAD’s mission.
- Partner with communications and mobilization teams for engagement plans.
- Emphasize a relationship-first approach grounded in spiritual partnership.
- Ensure donor experiences are timely, heartfelt, and mission-centered.
Fundraising Operations
- Utilize existing systems for donor tracking, reporting, and analytics (Salesforce).
- Provide input to help improve existing systems to better measure performance, engagement, and retention.
- Partner with leadership to continue building scalable infrastructure for a growing development team.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Represent TRIAD externally and champion indigenous-led gospel work.
- Contribute to leadership meetings with fundraising and donor insights.
- Collaborate with U.S. and Armenia teams to align fundraising with field impact.
- Model TRIAD’s values of Dependency, Obedience, Pioneering, Christlike Character and Unity.
Missional Literacy & Donor Communications
- Equip donors to understand TRIAD’s mission and global work.
- Use stories and updates to inspire awareness and action.
- Reinforce TRIAD’s gospel calling in every donor interaction.
- Align messaging with fundraising strategies through collaboration with the engagement director.
What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:
- Deep, mature Christian faith and alignment with TRIAD’s Statement of Faith, core convictions, and message framework.
- Minimum 5 years of professional fundraising experience, including direct work with major donors.
- A demonstrated understanding of relational fundraising, gospel-centered donor care, and partnership development.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate TRIAD’s evolving field initiatives (e.g., BLACKBOX, City Gates) into compelling cases for support.
- Exceptional relational, interpersonal, and storytelling skills. Comfort navigating ambiguity, scaling systems, and adapting to dynamic international contexts.
- Experience working cross-culturally with global or indigenous partners.
- Proficiency in Salesforce (preferred) or similar CRM tools.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (see expectations above).
- Bachelor’s degree required; theological or ministry training a plus.
