Lead Pastor – Position Profile
Full-time Staff Position: Lead Pastor
Responsible to: Officers of the Elder Board
Responsible for: Preaching, teaching, and shepherding the congregation, church staff and ministry programs
Purpose of Position: Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and under the direction of the Elders, the Senior Pastor will lead and unify the church in its purpose of making disciples of Jesus. As a servant leader and Elder, he will work with the Elder Board to develop and implement a clear and compelling vision for our church. Having a passion for people, he will work with our ministry team in preparing and sending people to serve both inside and outside the church, bringing glory to God. In addition, as our primary preaching and teaching pastor he will communicate the truth of the scriptures and our faith to our diverse, multi-generational congregation.

3. Character – Possessing integrity that is grounded in his faith and living a life above reproach.
4. Competency – Experienced in rightly exegeting the Word of God and communicating his biblical understanding to the congregation.
5. Culture – Demonstrating the ability to minister to a diverse congregation – age, ethnicity, spiritual maturity, education, financial position and worship style preference.
6. Personal responsibility – Willing to participate in personal accountability or LifeGroup.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Called of God and set apart to the ministry of the Gospel and service to Creekside as a Shepherd, Evangelist, Preacher/Teacher, Equipper, and Overseer. A mature Christian man with strong family relationships.
· Maintain a life consistent with I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9 and meet the other requirements of an Elder, as set forth in the Elder Board Policies and Procedures Manual.
· Affirms and embraces the core beliefs, doctrines, and theology of and principles of Creekside Christian Church.
· Full agreement with Creekside CC Mission Statement.
· Five or more years of experience in an executive leadership role at a church of a similar or larger size, diversity and/or complexity.
· A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Christian College / Seminary, with Master of Divinity preferred.
· A passion for missions and evangelism with the personal gifts and skills necessary for evangelizing and equipping others to fulfill the Great Commission.
· Experience working with a multi-generational congregation.
· Be experienced in working with and developing a strong, team-oriented ministry and promoting effective communications among church staff, leadership teams (principally the Board of Elders) and other lay leaders.
· Have a heart for discipleship with a passion for maturing believers in their relationship with Christ.
Responsibilities:
· Teaching/Preaching: Lead Creekside through an effective, practical pulpit ministry. This includes providing oversight and leadership of all worship services.
· Vision/Vision Casting: Provide visionary leadership for all Creekside ministry and business activities in consultation with the Executive Pastor and BusinessAdministrator/Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
· Discipleship: Provide leadership and oversight for developing and maintaining biblical discipleship and lay-leader equipping/training.
· Provide shepherding of the congregation, ministry staff and lay leaders.
· Build a mutually supportive and aligned ministry environment such that staff members can clearly see how their ministry area contributes to the larger vision and purpose of Creekside.
· In consultation with the Executive Pastor, be responsible for the effectiveness of the ministry staff in fulfilling their portion of the vision of the church and in implementing and living out the Discipleship Pathway model.
· Encourage team-building and a supportive work environment among the staff.
· Support and represent Creekside in the community and with Kingdom-building organizations where appropriate.
· Responsible for overseeing the personal development of the pastoral staff.
Days Off:
The lead pastor will be encouraged to take two days off per week. These will be set days; however, they may be altered due to schedule conflicts.
Paid Time Off:
Initially, three weeks per year with pay.
Continuing Education:
We encourage the lead pastor to pursue continuous development via conferences or seminars. These should be budgeted and approved by the elders. Expenses will be covered as agreed upon.
Compensation Package:
A competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered to the right person for this lead pastor role.
