City + Capital are currently representing a highly respected & fast-growing real estate finance lender who have retained our services to appoint a confident, knowledgeable and suitably qualified Senior Lawyer (Securitisation & Funding) to their growing in-house legal team.

Institutionally funded, our client is experiencing outstanding growth with big ambitions to be the leading player in their market over the coming years, increasing market reach and doubling the size of their funding panel & loan book in the process.   


The outlined business growth saw the inception of their in-house legal team in 2023 which is growing at pace to meet the demand of the lenders funding partners, borrowers and general legal needs internally.

They require a proactive Senior Lawyer with a specialism in institutional funding & securitisation who will join the team to deliver on critical projects that drive the business plan.  


Role Overview   


The arriving Senior Lawyer will play a key role at the heart of the business. The role will be a blend of legal strategy and hands-on delivery, working closely alongside the Head of Legal and General Counsel.  


The core focus of this role will be to provide internal legal advice and support for the company’s funding and securitisation transactions. You will work closely with the treasury team, the broader legal department and external counsel, to ensure that the lenders securitisation and funding initiatives are executed smoothly, and in line with relevant laws and regulations.  


This is likely to include deal structuring and negotiation, documentation and coverage of regulatory requirements. You will review and advise on transaction documents, such as facility agreements, intercreditor agreements, servicing agreements, security documents and other relevant contracts that underpin activity.  


You will provide strong governance and oversight on transaction processes, ensuring timelines and standards are met. Additionally, you will work to support the non-legal teams within the business to create dynamic project teams and to upskill general understanding of your specialist legal area.    


Candidate Requirements   


  • A qualified Solicitor in England & Wales, Minimum 3 Years PQE  
  • A demonstrable track record of success working with institutional funding partners  
  • A demonstrable track record of success driving securitisation activity  
  • An excellent knowledge of the regulatory environment governing mortgage-backed securities  
  • A proven track record of structuring and negotiating on deals  
  • A strong background in legal document development and optimisation  
  • Experienced in developing legal strategies, policies and processes   
  • An outstanding negotiator and an exemplary communicator in all aspects   
  • Proactive, quick to spot and tackle opportunities or issues   
  • Ambitious and keen to grow with the firm   


On Offer   


Our client is ideally looking to pay up to c£150k as a basic salary of the ideal individual, relevant to experience. Higher offers could also be considered for exceptional direct experience. Salary will be complemented by access to our client's favourable bonus scheme too which can significantly boost annual income.   


Notably, this is also a role that comes with further opportunity to progress internally, as the legal department continues to grow in scale with the business. Our client has doubled the size of their operation consistently over the years, and success has been underpinned by their strong and proven promote from within policy.

Due to the central nature of this role it will largely be based in our clients Central London offices with requirements to travel as needed in line with the duties of the role.
