The Company

Our client provides development finance, bridging loans and mezzanine debt to support high-quality residential and mixed-use projects.

They expertly serve small to mid-sized developers building residential and mixed-use schemes across the UK. Their ability to structure flexible deals and move at pace, has established them as a trusted partner for developers seeking fast access to capital in time-sensitive environments.

Since their launch, our client has experienced remarkable growth, securing their position as a disruptive force in the alternative lending space and consistently expanding their loan book year-on-year with ambitious plans for continued scaling.

This trajectory has created an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Development Finance Relationship Director to join a fast-growing, entrepreneurial team where they can directly influence strategic direction.

Role Overview

As RD, you will be responsible for working towards agreed lending objectives that support that strategic growth of our client's loan book.

You will target the growth of your application pipeline to achieve agreed lending volumes across the product suite outlined. You will be supported within a highly collaborative business throughout, working closely with credit and the portfolio teams on shared opportunities.

Once new opportunities are onboard, you will manage these through to completion and during this process, will support credit assessments and deal structuring, working closely with the Head of Originations on larger, more complex transactions.

This role will mean you are a key face of the business, and it is expected that you will attend plenty of events, site visits and client meetings to deliver success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Actively seek to grow your index of relationships to expand lending and success
  • Undertake initial deal assessments and create credit papers for new applications
  • Liaise closely with the internal operations team regarding underwriting and execution
  • Play a key part in deal execution and loan completions
  • Work closely with the portfolio team on shared opportunities or clients
  • Act as a first line of defence in terms of credit and business risk
  • Seek to improve, suggest and streamline business functions to enhance results
  • Ensure origination practises are in line with regulatory or governance standards

Candidate Requirements

The ideal individual for this role will therefore be highly experienced in short-term property finance lending and will have a broad skillset across the property finance lending cycle.

You will be an excellent relationship manager with strong business development credentials. You will have a strong knowledge of the credit principles that underpin ‘good lending’ and you will be experienced in initial credit assessments and deal structuring.

This will require an individual who is comfortable dealing with property professionals directly and someone who is an outstanding negotiator, commercially minded and strategic in their approach to lending and lending growth.

  • A proven track record of originations in real estate lending
  • A history of achieving relationship management objectives in a similar role
  • Well-connected in the market to relevant brokers, introducers and borrowers
  • Confident when delivering on origination strategies that drive the required applications
  • Highly commercial and capable of understanding what a good deal looks like
  • A strong understanding of the credit risk principles that underpin good lending
  • Good deal structuring with proven analysis and execution skills
  • A working knowledge of portfolio management
  • Ambitious and keen to grow with the firm

On Offer

Our client is ideally looking to pay up to c£120k as a basic salary for the ideal individual, relevant to experience. Higher offers could be considered for exceptional direct experience in this role.

Salary will be complemented by access to our client’s equity plan + bonus scheme too, which will drive significant annual earnings based on team and personal performance.

Notably, our client is growing and has a preference to promote internally, where opportunity is available.

They are keen to build a team for the long term, offering excellent potential to progress salary and career standing within, as excellent performance is delivered and the business continues to expand.

They are a highly collaborative firm so you would expect to split your working week between client visits, home and the London office.
