City + Capital are currently representing a well-funded and ambitious specialist property finance lender who are keen to expand their key account team in the London region. They require a proactive and hungry BDM who will join to assist with the growth and management of our client’s key account panel.


The Company


Our client is a longstanding member of the bridging, BTL & commercial mortgage lending community and over recent years have achieved outstanding growth. With strong and longstanding funding partners, a broad and diverse product range and a reputation for delivery, they work closely with the UK’s most prolific brokers to deliver important funds to property developers and investors.


A big hook for brokers and borrowers is our client’s capacity to fund both small and large ticket loans, as well as property portfolio’s. Further, their capacity to create bespoke loan solutions for clients who require something ‘outside of the box’ has meant that the lender is a go to firm for key brokers and borrowers across the UK. Loans can be placed against residential, semi-commercial and commercial properties.


The Department & Team


Our client’s key account division was established to deliver more support and resources to brokers in the London and Southeast that are prolific within the bridging, BTL and commercial arena. A year into the department’s inception it achieved just that, resulting in a large increase in lending volumes and enhanced relationships with key brokers.


To date, the key account team is small, but set to grow substantially, making this an exciting time to join – where your impact and activity could have a huge impact on future growth and success. It is also expected that the number of accounts within the key account book will grow, as the team does, that will consist of internal BDMs, external Key Account BDMs and the Head of Key Accounts.


Role Overview


As a Key Account Manager, BDM, you will work very closely with the Head of Key Accounts on strategy, as well as delivery. Together, you will consider the needs and demands of individual brokers and will develop account plans that support improved relationships and increased lending performance.


The Key Account team works toward an annual lending target, and you will be integral in the attainment of that. This means you will work closely with the Head of Key Accounts and broader team on the ultimate strategy to achieve a cumulative lending target from your key account contacts.


Day to day, your focus will be on the management of key account relationships. Educating them on the areas in which you can support and proactively identifying loan enquiries that can be onboarded from these accounts. You will be supported by an Internal BDM who will assist with setting up meetings, deal flow and ultimately, the connection to the key accounts designated underwriting and completions team.


You will be responsible for managing cases through to completion once enquiries are onboarded.


Responsibilities


  • Devise and implement key account strategies to achieve lending objectives
  • Assist with the onboarding and education of new key accounts to the team
  • Guide and mentor your internal BDM to achieve key objectives and KPIs
  • Identify and onboard lending applications for loans that meet the lenders criteria
  • Liaise closely with internal and external loan stakeholders to achieve timely completions
  • Achieve agreed lending objectives


The ideal candidate for this role must have experience as a BDM or Key Account Manager for a specialist property finance lender or bank. Experience in bridging finance and/or BTL is expected, along with a demonstrable track record of achieving lending targets and year-on-year account growth.


You will be highly proactive in your approach to relationship management and will be comfortable working with some of the most prolific brokers in the UK. You will be confident when overseeing a junior salesperson and will have a good knowledge of the lending principles that drive credit focused decisions.


You will be expected to manage and prioiritise the patch pipeline of loans, so a good attention to details and ability to spot opportunities will be key.


Candidate Requirements


  • Current or previous experience as a BDM or KAM within a specialist lender/bank
  • Previous experience working with larger brokerages preferred, though not essential
  • Experienced in bridging, BTL or commercial mortgage lending
  • A strong knowledge of ‘what makes a good deal’
  • Demonstrable track record of achieve lending targets and objectives
  • A strong mentor, capable of developing junior sales staff & improving performance
  • Results driven and proactive in approach
  • Outstanding negotiation and communication skills
  • Ambitious and keen to grow with the firm


On Offer


Our client is ideally looking to pay between £50k & £80k + car allowance for the ideal individual. The range is broad as our client is willing to consider different levels of market experience, as training can be given – where needed – in areas that require more support. This is very much about ‘the person’ and their ambition to join and grow. Higher offers may also be considered for exceptional talent.


Salary will be complemented by an excellent UNCAPPED bonus structure that will reward you for your performance against target. This could drive a six-figure OTE for achieving target, with the capacity to increase this substantially for overperformance.


This is also a role that comes with further potential progression, where excellent performance is delivered. As noted, you would be joining relatively early in our client’s key account divisions’ journey, making this an outstanding time to establish yourself as a key team player, and responsible for ongoing success.

This is a home-based role with travel to meetings, events and office strategy days are expected.
