Internal Medicine Physician – Full-Time

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine Physician to join our innovative, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Timmins.


Our Critical Care Unit is a 6-bed level 2 advanced intensive care unit that serves the community of Timmins as well as our District Partners. It is an open unit where general surgeons, anesthesia, and pediatricians have admitting privileges to the CCU. We have the capability of transvenous pacing, ventilation, and dialysis within the unit. There is a multidisciplinary team available, with Nursing, Respiratory Therapist 24/7, Social Work, Dieticians, Speech, and Physiotherapists


The Internal Medicine Program includes our full-time nephrologist. TADH has a Family Medicine Hospitalist Program and there is full support by all surgical specialties (with the exception of cardiac and neurosurgery). TADH is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostics with quick access to CT, MRI, echo, and nuclear medicine, opportunity for EKG reading, Holter monitors, stress testing and PFT's.


There is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents, through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Position Requirements

Candidates must:

  • have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Internal Medicine.
  • be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as an Internist (or Family Physician) in the Province of Ontario
  • have (or be eligible for) certification in ACLS or ATLS
  • have (or be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage
  • have excellent clinical skills
  • have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care


Remuneration

Compensation is based on a combination of an hourly wage, Fee-for-Service, and a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan. 


Incentives

  • Relocation incentive is provided by the Timmins and District Hospital.
  • Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $83,301 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a practice in Timmins.
