The Department of Psychiatry is searching for occasional locums to cover weekends and peak vacation times for on-call inpatient psychiatry, and occasionally, for outpatient services.  

The Timmins and District Hospital is a 214-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. Timmins is located in Northeastern Ontario and is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long-Term Care, and Mental Health Services.

Details of the Psychiatry Locum work:

The service of General Psychiatry provides a variety of inpatient and outpatient services for patients in Timmins and across the District. The inpatient unit consists of 22 adult beds for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a variety of mental illnesses.

Remuneration is as per HFO Guidelines for the Northern Locum Program.

Your traveling expenses of airfare and/or mileage, local car rental, and accommodations will be covered. 

Position Requirements

Candidates must:

• have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Psychiatry.
• be licensed to practice as a Psychiatrist in the Province of Ontario.
• have Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.
• have an independent practice license with the CPSO
• have an active OHIP billing number
• possess excellent clinical skills.
• have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
