The Accounting supervisor is an integral role in the country management team providing leadership to the team along with analysis, challenge and commercial support to the business 

 

As a senior member the role will be expected to help drive the finance agenda and set the tone for the team culture.


Typical Accountabilities:

 

Reporting & Controls

  • Own the Accounting process and act as the main point of contact for all queries
  • Ensure robust financial controls are in place within the business and drive compliance with the Essentra Accounting Policies Manual at all times
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with local regulations and group polices and procedures
  • § Responsible for monthly & quarterly returns including Intra-company & VAT amongst others
  • Principal person responsible for authorising vendor and payroll payments
  • Main point of contact for audits (both internal & external)
  • Lead analysis of all areas of the financial statements to identify opportunities and propose actions to improve profitability and cash flow of the business
  • Develop value adding reporting and review processes and procedures to ensure efficiency, timeliness of information and delivery of additional insight

 

Forecasting & planning

  • Own the site forecast & planning process to ensure a rigorous, insightful output of P&L, balance sheet and capital requests
  • Work hand in hand with cost owners to deliver a bottom-up budget that the business buys in to and owns. Pressure test the submissions to ensure the financial integrity of the numbers.

 

Business Partnering

  • Provide analysis, challenge and commercial support to improve business performance and aid decision making
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure they are driven through to completion

 

Team Management

  • Head up the finance team, ensuring the team is engaged, motivated and driven to deliver set objectives
  • Drive the profile of the finance team across the site and ensure finance are seen true partners to the commercial functions
  • Give appropriate & timely feedback to develop the team to maximise their potential


 

Required Skills & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Previous experience leading a finance team, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent technical accounting skills including the ability to appraise monthly reporting submissions
  • Experience of working in fast paced, dynamic environments, and under pressure.
  • Comfortable using numerous accounting packages with a good understanding of systems and ability to understand data quickly
  • High command of written and spoken English (B2) is mandatory. Native or bilingual Italian is a must
  • Advanced Excel skills to enable manipulation of multiple data sources to deliver detailed analytic
  • Use insight to proactively identify areas of improvement and working on own initiative
  • Highly organised / structured approach, with the ability to co-ordinate a large number tasks simultaneously and ensure deadlines are met with clear, logical plans and foresight to pre-empt obstacles
  • Own delivery of targets and hold relevant people accountable for delivery
  • Ability to overcome obstacles whilst remaining professional and motivated.
  • Share best practice amongst the team and work collaboratively to deliver to achieve team’s objectives
  • Able to work effectively under pressure to deliver high quality work
  • Resilience, pragmatism and robustness
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous situations
