Lagniappe Sourcing Consulting is recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join an advanced aerospace and defense engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leading cross-functional projects from concept through qualification and production. The Project Engineer will play a key role in driving technical excellence, ensuring schedule adherence, and maintaining product integrity across development, testing, and manufacturing efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate product development and qualification activities, ensuring successful delivery of program milestones.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams to develop, qualify, and produce high-performance aerospace components and systems.
  • Plan, execute, monitor, and close engineering projects, managing technical scope, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including test directives, test reports, and qualification plans.
  • Oversee engine and component testing, including assembly, disassembly, performance evaluation, and root cause investigations of test anomalies.
  • Support design for manufacturability and quality initiatives, ensuring products meet all performance and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and technical details effectively to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in engineering processes, data management, and testing methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or related discipline required).
  • 4+ years of experience in project engineering within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple sub-projects and deliver results on time and within scope.
  • Experience using NX, Teamcenter, or other CAD/PDM tools.
  • Python programming skills for data analysis or automation preferred.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine engine systems, electro-mechanical components, and associated manufacturing techniques is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills—able to summarize complex engineering issues for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Physical capability to occasionally lift and handle test components (up to 50 lbs).
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if required.
