Study Director or Senior Study Director

CNS Research  |  Virscio  |  St. Kitts, West Indies  |  Full-time, on-site

Lead CNS studies from protocol to sponsor-ready results

A well-designed study depends on the decisions made during execution: preparing the team, keeping samples and endpoints on track, recognizing a data issue early, and helping the sponsor understand what comes next. Virscio is seeking a Study Director or Senior Study Director who can bring that judgment to its growing CNS research portfolio.

The opportunity

Based in St. Kitts, you will join a specialized nonhuman primate research organization supporting preclinical therapeutic development. Virscio connects in vivo studies with histopathology and molecular research, giving teams complementary ways to investigate delivery, biological activity and safety.

You will own study delivery after protocol finalization, working with scientific experts who contribute to design and complex interpretation. The role offers direct sponsor interaction, responsibility across studies at different stages, and close collaboration with technical, veterinary and research operations colleagues.

What you will own

  • Translate finalized protocols into coordinated execution plans, clear responsibilities and study milestones.
  • Guide technical teams and coordinate the people and resources needed to keep studies moving.
  • Manage competing priorities across a portfolio, anticipate dependencies, and raise issues early with practical options.
  • Oversee data quality, analysis coordination and reporting so sponsors receive clear, scientifically useful results.
  • Serve as a sponsor contact for progress, study questions, emerging findings and expectations.
  • Contribute CNS expertise to protocol development and interpretation alongside subject matter experts.

Science with delivery responsibility

Your day may move from a technical team discussion to a sponsor update, then to reviewing data or resolving a reporting dependency. Virscio conducts both non-GLP and GLP research, with approximately six GLP studies annually based on company estimates. The role calls for careful documentation, sound scientific judgment and reliable follow-through across both settings.

What you bring

  • An MS or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline and at least two years of Study Director experience.
  • CRO experience and CNS study leadership involving rodents or higher-order species.
  • The scientific fluency to discuss study objectives, endpoints and findings with sponsors and colleagues.
  • Evidence of coordinating technical work, managing competing study priorities and communicating problems early.
  • Strong scientific writing and the ability to turn study information into clear updates and reports.
  • Willingness to relocate to St. Kitts and work on site full time.

Experience we particularly value

Nonhuman primate experience is preferred, and GLP study experience is highly preferred. Candidates with strong rodent CNS study leadership are encouraged to explore the opportunity; the team can train the successful hire on specific NHP CNS protocols. Experience guiding junior scientific colleagues is also valuable.

Compensation and relocation

Annual base salary is flexible with experience and role level:

  • Study Director: US$90,000–US$110,000.
  • Senior Study Director: US$110,000–US$130,000.

The position is based full time in St. Kitts, West Indies. Virscio will guide candidates through the work-permit process. The interview process includes a site visit before hire, providing an opportunity to experience the research environment and consider the move firsthand.

Working in St. Kitts

St. Kitts and Nevis has no personal income tax. Eligible U.S. taxpayers may qualify for the foreign earned income exclusion, up to US$132,900 for tax year 2026, subject to applicable tax-home and residence or physical-presence requirements. U.S. filing obligations and applicable payroll levies or other taxes may remain; individual eligibility should be reviewed with a tax adviser.
