Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Walterboro First Baptist Church in Walterboro, SC as they search for their next Worship and Media Director. Founded in 1858, Walterboro First Baptist Church has a rich history of sharing the gospel in Colleton County and beyond, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The church has seen consistent growth, with average weekly attendance rising to approximately 200 in the past year, up from 159 the previous year. This growth includes an exciting influx of young families and children, alongside a strong base of older members who cherish the church's history and traditions.


The church's mission is to proclaim the Gospel and multiply disciples, with a vision focused on enjoying God’s presence and fostering a community dedicated to His purposes. Its six-year strategic plan prioritizes prayer, discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, missions, and worship, aiming to become increasingly outward-focused while remaining firmly grounded in God’s Word.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Worship and Media Director at Walterboro First Baptist Church is a full-time, exempt position responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the Worship Ministry. This role involves leading worship services, building and discipling a worship team, overseeing the AVL team, maintaining equipment, and managing the ministry's budget, all while working in harmony with the Lead Pastor and church staff.



Ideal Candidate:

  • Musical Expertise & Technical Skills: Proficient in music theory and performance, capable of leading contemporary worship that includes choirs, bands, and ensembles, and experienced with audio/visual and digital worship technology.
  • Highly Collaborative Team Player: Works closely with the Lead Pastor and church staff, communicates clearly, and fosters unity and belonging across the worship team and congregation.
  • Principled and Courageous Leadership: Demonstrates consistency in upholding the church’s mission and principles, even under pressure.
  • Tech-Savvy with Audio, Visual, and Lighting: Comfortable leading the church's digital/media capabilities.
  • Relational Leader with Administrative Skills: Builds strong, collaborative relationships within the worship ministry while effectively managing planning, organization, and resources to support its health and growth.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Lead Pastor in planning worship services. 
  • Create, schedule, and arrange the Sunday worship services. 
  • Lead all aspects of Sunday worship services. 
  • Continue to equip and build a Worship Ministry Team and disciple those in the ministry. 
  • Plan and conduct rehearsals as needed for musicians and vocalists. 
  • Arrange for instrumental accompanists for worship services and other events when requested. 
  • Maintain the church’s music and AVL equipment. 
  • Arrange for and/or provide music at funerals, weddings, denominational meetings, etc., when requested. 
  • Give oversight and direction to other aspects of worship ministry. (Student and Children’s ministries)
