Apply for this job

Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Grace Bible Church in La Vernia, TX, as they search for their next Worship Arts Pastor. Grace Bible Church is a growing, multi-site church committed to connecting with others for the life-changing pursuit of Jesus Christ. GBC is a conservative, evangelical, expositional church with a high view of Scripture and a strong commitment to biblical teaching, authentic community, and ministry excellence.

Grace is entering an exciting season of growth with multiple campuses, expanding facilities, and three Sunday morning services at the La Vernia campus. The Worship Arts Pastor will have the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of worship ministry by developing a current, congregation-centered worship culture that combines musical excellence with pastoral leadership, discipleship, and genuine engagement.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A Pastoral Worship Leader – Someone who views worship leadership as shepherding people rather than simply leading music from a platform.
  • A Skilled and Current Musician – A strong vocalist and instrumentalist who understands the contemporary evangelical worship landscape and can thoughtfully introduce current, singable, gospel-centered music.
  • A Developer of People and Teams – A leader who enjoys recruiting, coaching, discipling, and multiplying musicians, vocalists, creatives, and future worship leaders.
  • Relational, Humble, and Coachable – Someone who welcomes feedback, communicates well, works collaboratively, and can maintain high standards while building healthy relationships.
  • Congregation-Focused – A worship leader who measures success by the engagement of the congregation rather than the performance of the platform.
  • Biblically and Theologically Grounded – A spiritually mature leader who embraces Grace Bible Church's evangelical theology, authority of Scripture, and philosophy of worship.
  • Organized and Forward-Thinking – Someone capable of planning ahead, managing systems and volunteers, and helping develop worship ministry across a growing multi-site church.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead congregational worship at the La Vernia campus in a multiple-service environment and develop a team-based, multi-vocalist approach to worship leadership.
  • Oversee song selection, setlists, and repertoire, intentionally maintaining a current, singable, biblically sound, and congregation-centered worship catalog.
  • Recruit, develop, disciple, and multiply worship volunteers, including musicians, vocalists, creatives, and emerging worship leaders.
  • Invest in the next generation of worship leaders, including helping develop and strengthen worship leadership within Grace's Student Ministry.
  • Collaborate closely with the Production Coordinator to ensure audio, video, lighting, and other production elements effectively support the overall worship experience.
  • Work with worship leadership at Grace's other campus to develop shared language, repertoire alignment, and a growing sense of being one church across multiple locations.
  • Plan worship services and coordinate service flow, transitions, baptisms, the Lord's Supper, and other worship elements with the preaching and production teams.
  • Maintain strong planning and administrative systems, including monthly worship planning, Planning Center, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Build a worship-team culture characterized by spiritual maturity, healthy relationships, joy, collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Participate fully in the broader pastoral, creative, and staff life of Grace Bible Church while helping prepare the worship ministry for continued multi-site growth.
