Job Summary 

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver strategic initiatives within our Capital Markets division. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end project delivery across trading, risk, regulatory, and post-trade functions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technology strategies. The ideal candidate brings strong financial markets knowledge, disciplined project execution skills, and the ability to work across business, operations, and technology stakeholders, and proven transformational delivery experience. This role will be involved in integrating a recent acquisition into the Capital Markets infrastructure, processes, and structure within Zions.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

Project Delivery & Execution 

  • Lead the full project lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure) for a variety of capital markets initiatives 
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations 
  • Ensure timely, on-budget delivery while maintaining high-quality standards 
  • Track and report progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders and governance forums 

Stakeholder Management 

  • Partner with front office (trading, sales), middle office (risk, compliance), and back office (operations) teams 
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams 
  • Facilitate project governance, steering committee meetings, and executive updates 
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and drive decision-making 

Capital Markets Domain Execution 

  • Deliver projects across areas such as:  
  • Trade lifecycle management (order capture, execution, clearing, settlement) 
  • Derivatives, fixed income, equities, FX, and structured products 
  • Risk management, P&L attribution, and regulatory reporting (e.g., SEC, FINRA, Basel, MiFID) 
  • Support transformation initiatives including system upgrades, platform migrations, and automation 

Risk & Compliance Management 

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and dependencies 
  • Ensure projects comply with internal controls, audit standards, and regulatory requirements 
  • Maintain documentation for audit and compliance purposes 

Change Management & Communication 

  • Develop and execute change management and communication plans 
  • Drive user adoption through training, documentation, and stakeholder engagement 
  • Manage impacts to business processes and operating models 

Vendor & Technology Coordination 

  • Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and technology providers 
  • Oversee system integration, testing (UAT), and implementation activities 
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and data strategies 

 

Qualifications 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Information Systems, or related field 
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred 

Experience 

  • 5–10+ years of project management experience within financial services 
  • Strong experience in Capital Markets (e.g., trading, securities, derivatives, or investment banking) 
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives 

Technical & Functional Skills 

  • Deep understanding of capital markets products and trade lifecycle processes 
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., Dodd-Frank, Basel III, MiFID II) 
  • Experience with trading systems, risk platforms, or post-trade systems 
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence) 
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies 

Certifications (Preferred) 

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) 
  • PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum certifications (e.g., SAFe, CSM)
