About the Role

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Calypso Java Developer Consultant to join our financial technology team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, customizing, and integrating our Calypso trading and risk management platforms. The ideal candidate will combine deep financial domain knowledge—particularly in FX and derivatives—with expert-level Java programming and cloud architecture skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Calypso Development & Configuration: Configure, customize, and extend Calypso application modules for a variety of asset classes and functions, including interest rates, commodities, FX, FX Options, credit derivatives, clearing exchange-traded derivatives, credit risk, and market risk
  • System Integration: Lead hands-on integration of Calypso with external financial market utilities (e.g., DTCC SDR, Markitwire, Bloomberg TOMS SEF, WebICE, AcadiaSoft, TriResolve) and core internal systems (General Ledger, Swift, FedWire, ACH)
  • Architecture & API Development: Design and build scalable solutions utilizing the Calypso API, Java REST APIs, and microservices architectures
  • DevSecOps & Cloud Engineering: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (using Bitbucket, Nexus, Jenkins, Terraform, or equivalents) and deploy applications using AWS cloud services, Work within specialized environments such as the Nasdaq CapCloud (Oracle) environment
  • Application Support: Develop, maintain, and support robust enterprise applications utilizing Java, JBoss, MQ, and ETL processes


Required Qualifications

  • Education & Overall Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, coupled with 10+ years of broad software and application development experience (including design, databases, integrations, testing, and troubleshooting)
  • Calypso Expertise: Minimum of 5+ years of direct experience in Calypso development, with strong proficiency in utilizing the Calypso API
  • Technical Mastery
  • Expert knowledge of Java programming, application servers, and software development lifecycles
  • Experience with build services using Java REST API’s
  • Thorough understanding of RDBMS, expert SQL skills, and deep knowledge of data modeling concepts and database systems
  • Experience working with Data Lakes and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)

Domain Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of market and credit risk, with deep product knowledge specifically in FX products


Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working with alternative FX applications such as Wall Street Systems or Spectrum is highly desirable.
