Advance Quality Engineering for Mission-Critical Payment Platforms

Are you an experienced Test Automation Engineer who enjoys building scalable automation solutions and improving quality across complex, enterprise-scale applications? is seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer – Payments to join our team supporting a high-profile enterprise client in Salt Lake City, UT.

In this role, you will help drive modern quality engineering practices across critical payment applications by designing and enhancing automation frameworks, expanding automated test coverage, and embedding testing throughout the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with product, business, development, and engineering teams to strengthen shift-left testing, continuous testing, API automation, and CI/CD integration.

Location: This position is based onsite at a client location in the Salt Lake City, UT area.

How you'll make an impact

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain scalable and reusable **test automation frameworks** for complex enterprise applications.
• Develop and execute automated **functional, integration, end-to-end, and regression test suites** across critical business workflows.
• Advance **shift-left testing** by incorporating automated quality validation earlier in the software development lifecycle.
• Partner with Product Management, business stakeholders, developers, architects, and engineering teams to understand requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and critical business processes.
• Develop automated testing solutions for complex **payment applications and transaction-processing workflows**, including ACH, wire transfers, SWIFT, and related payment capabilities.
• Design and execute automated **API and integration testing** for REST and SOAP-based services.
• Create and execute SQL queries to validate application data, payment transactions, integrations, and expected processing outcomes.
• Integrate automated test suites into **CI/CD pipelines** to support continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous testing.
• Test applications deployed across **public cloud and containerized environments**, including AWS, Azure, GCP, and Docker.
• Analyze automated test results, identify defects and quality risks, troubleshoot automation failures, perform root-cause analysis, and partner with development teams to drive issues through resolution.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation coverage, test efficiency, reliability, maintainability, and overall engineering productivity.
• Evaluate and recommend new testing tools, frameworks, technologies, and automation approaches based on evolving application and delivery needs.
• Estimate, plan, track, and report automation and testing activities throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Conduct automation code reviews and contribute to coding standards, reusable components, technical documentation, and secure development practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in **quality engineering, test automation, cloud-native development, DevOps, and continuous testing**.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• 6+ years of experience in test automation, quality engineering, software testing, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience testing **payment applications or transaction-processing systems**, including ACH, wire transfers, SWIFT, and/or other electronic payment capabilities.
• Strong experience designing, developing, executing, and maintaining **enterprise-scale test automation frameworks**.
• Hands-on automation experience using **Playwright and/or Selenium**.
• Programming or automation development experience using **Java and/or Python**.
• Experience testing **REST and SOAP APIs**, including experience with tools such as Postman or comparable technologies.
• Strong **SQL and relational database** skills, including the ability to query and analyze data for transaction and test validation.
• Experience testing applications deployed on at least one major public cloud platform, such as **AWS, Azure, or GCP**.
• Experience testing applications within **containerized environments**, including Docker.
• Experience integrating automated tests into **CI/CD pipelines** and working within continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous testing practices.
• Experience with development and delivery tools such as **Bamboo, Git, Artifactory, Jira, and Confluence**, or comparable technologies.
• Demonstrated experience planning, estimating, executing, tracking, and reporting automation and testing activities.
• Experience working within **Agile and/or Waterfall** software delivery methodologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex application and automation issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across business, product, development, and engineering teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
