The Client
The client is an established agency with a 17-year track record of providing top-tier results to their clients. Their team is their greatest asset, and they strive to recruit and retain the best in the business. Their goal is to build an all-star team of passionate digital marketing experts who continue to push the bar higher and help each other become the best digital marketers in the industry so they can provide their clients unparalleled results and service.
The Role
The Senior Account Manager owns client relationships directly, serving as the trusted advisor who connects marketing performance to business outcomes and ensures every engagement drives measurable value.
This is a high-visibility role with direct access to the agency's leadership and a portfolio of accounts that matter to the agency's trajectory. You'll work closely with the VP of Client Success and partner with senior channel specialists across SEO, AEO, Paid Media, CRO, and Analytics. For the right person, this role grows into building and leading the agency's account management function.
Responsibilities
Own Senior Client Relationships
- Serve as the primary strategic partner for a portfolio of the agency's highest-value clients.
- Build trust-based relationships with VP- and C-level client stakeholders who expect a peer, not a vendor.
- Lead structured agency client meetings with clear agendas, business-aligned outcomes, and documented next steps.
- Translate complex SEO, AEO, CRO, and paid media work into business narratives that resonate with non-technical executives.
- Provide proactive communication and strategic guidance—agency clients should never have to chase you.
- Manage expectations around timelines, scope, deliverables, and the realities of organic and paid channel performance.
Drive Program Execution Across Channels
- Coordinate work across SEO, CRO, paid media, analytics, and content teams to ensure programs run on time and on strategy.
- Translate strategic recommendations into clear, prioritized execution plans.
- Maintain organized project environments (ClickUp or similar) with full visibility into deliverables, dependencies, and risks.
- Ensure specialists have the agency client context and business objectives they need to do their best work.
- Support sprint planning and resourcing conversations.
Align Strategy to Business Outcomes
- Facilitate agency client goal-setting and KPI alignment discussions, ensuring marketing initiatives tie to revenue and growth targets.
- Partner with channel SMEs to build actionable roadmaps from strategic recommendations.
- Prepare and lead Quarterly Business Reviews that clearly connect performance to agency client business objectives.
- Ensure reporting is delivered on time, accurately contextualized, and tells a compelling performance story.
- Identify gaps between the agency's client goals and current scope—and bring solutions, not just observations.
Protect and Grow Accounts
- Maintain real-time awareness of account health, satisfaction signals, and churn risk.
- Identify upsell and expansion opportunities in collaboration with channel leads and business development.
- Help scope change orders and expanded programs.
- Drive client retention, renewal, and advocacy.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years in Account Management, Client Strategy, or Client Success within a digital marketing agency.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise or mid-market eCommerce and/or B2B client portfolios.
- Enough technical fluency in SEO, paid media, CRO, and analytics to be credible in strategic conversations. No execution expectation, but you need to understand the work well enough to translate it into business impact.
- Experience presenting to and building relationships with VP- and C-level stakeholders.
- Strong Project Management Instincts: You keep programs organized, on track, and visible without being asked.
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills: You can write a compelling QBR narrative and lead a room.
- Track record of client retention, account growth, and high satisfaction scores.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with eCommerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce) and how digital marketing integrates with them.
- Familiarity with AI-driven search (AEO/GEO) and how the search landscape is evolving.
- Experience building or scaling an account management function — not just operating within one.
- Comfort with analytics tools (GA4, Looker Studio, or similar) and using data to tell performance stories.
What Success Looks Like
First 90 Days
- You've taken full ownership of your client portfolio with confident, seamless transitions.
- You understand each agency client's business, goals, competitive landscape, and the strategy behind their program.
- Internal teams see you as someone who makes their work better by providing clear client context and priorities.
First 6–12 Months

The Longer View
This role is designed to grow. As the agency scales, the opportunity exists to build and lead an account management team, reporting to the VP of Client Success. The client is looking for someone who wants to grow with them.
