The Mission (aka The Role)
As an Executive Account Manager at Intero Digital, you are the lead strategist and primary contact for high-value, multi-service accounts. You are responsible for owning the client relationship, driving strategy and solutions, aligning with internal teams, and delivering results. You will serve as a mentor, strategist, project manager, and service expert, helping clients realize the full impact of their digital investments. You deeply understand each client鈥檚 business goals and manage overall strategy, solutioning, and revenue growth across 3 or more integrated digital marketing service lines, specifically Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), Paid Media, and Earned Media. A successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, a client-first mentality, be familiar with common digital marketing practices, and have the ability to translate complex digital marketing performance data into clear, actionable insights.
The candidate may be based in any of the following US states: AL, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI.
Mission Objectives (Essential Functions)
Communication and Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for a portfolio of client accounts.
- Act as an advocate for client success internally, representing their business interests in strategy, resourcing, and prioritization conversations.
- Lead all client communication, including status updates, strategic recommendations, and day-to-day correspondence.
- Own the client meeting cadence end to end, including onboarding calls, strategy sessions, business reviews, reporting calls, and check-ins, along with agendas, facilitation, and follow-up recaps.
- Educate clients on Intero's service offerings, processes, and digital marketing best practices, setting clear expectations on both sides of the engagement.
- Serve as the first escalation point for client concerns, proactively identifying client health risks, leading resolution directly, and escalating to leadership when the situation warrants it.
- Identify and act on opportunities for expanded scope, additional services, and increased media investment in partnership with the sales team.
- Secure contract renewals at least 60 days ahead of contract term dates.
Digital Marketing Strategy and Reporting
- Own the integrated digital strategy for every client in your portfolio.
- Lead client onboarding and discovery, translating business goals, target audiences, and success metrics into a cohesive cross-channel plan.
- Present that strategy directly to clients, including senior stakeholders and executive decision makers.
- Drive execution against the strategy, ensuring channel teams are aligned to the plan and work is delivered on pace.
- Own client KPIs, reporting, and performance narratives with support from channel experts across SEO, GEO, paid media, earned media, social, email, and creative.
- Build data stories that connect performance to business impact and prove ROI, rather than reporting metrics in isolation.
- Derive actionable insights from performance data and recommend strategic pivots when results call for them.
Account and Project Management
- Manage a portfolio of complex, multi-service accounts, often as the sole account manager spanning multiple divisions.
- Meet expectations for assigned client workload, client retention and attrition targets, and portfolio revenue growth.
- Maintain deep command of each client's contract, scope of work, and deliverable commitments.
- Act as project manager for client work, keeping deliverables moving and deadlines met.
- Manage internal workflows in monday.com, ensuring boards, task statuses, and client documentation accurately reflect the current state of work at all times.
- Manage scope changes, proposals, pricing, and change orders in partnership with sales and leadership, securing required approvals before client presentation.
- Lead client offboarding, including transitions of points of contact and subject matter experts, in collaboration with assigned team members.
- Support finance on billing and collections communication when needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the liaison between clients and internal teams, including analysts, strategists, specialists, and leadership.
- Own the handoff between sales and delivery, translating pre-sale commitments into a seamless client experience from day one.
- Model strong communication practices across client teams, departments, and divisions, with thorough documentation in the company system.
- Lead internal collaboration meetings and ensure the right people from the right teams are involved at the right time.
- Maintain full documentation of client conversations, decisions, and next steps so any team member can get up to speed at a glance.
Mentorship and Development
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge across SEO, GEO, paid media, earned media, and emerging digital marketing disciplines, and keep that knowledge current as the industry and technology change.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires constant learning and adaptation.
- Mentor peers and newer account managers, providing 1:1 guidance and modeling best practices.
- Serve as an escalation and strategy resource for other account managers, including on accounts outside your own portfolio.
- Contribute to the account management process, playbook, and template improvements that raise the standard across the team.
- Contribute to department and company-wide initiatives and projects.
- Participate in and occasionally lead internal training, education sessions, and professional development.

- 8+ years of experience in digital marketing and in a digital marketing agency setting is preferred.
- Experience within paid search, paid media, SEO, and earned media is mandatory; experience with GEO is highly desirable.
- 5+ years of experience in digital marketing account management with high-value portfolios.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to lead strategy and communication across multi-service, cross-functional teams.
- Deep knowledge of GEO/SEO, paid media, content and PR, and associated marketing solutions, including building integrated marketing strategies from the ground up.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and strategic thinking skills.
- Proficiency with monday.com or a comparable project management system and Microsoft Office products.
- Moderate hands-on experience with Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Search Console, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and ranking tools such as Semrush or BrightEdge.
- Demonstrated adoption of AI tools to improve efficiency, insight, and client output.
- Ability to handle renewals, upsells, reporting, and executive-level client interactions.
- Experience mentoring or leading peers in a fast-paced agency environment.
- Strong project management and organization skills, including documentation, planning, and prioritization abilities with a client-first mindset.
- Collaborative spirit and ability to thrive in an autonomous, remote-first environment.
- Curiosity and a drive to innovate.
- Creative problem-solving and adaptability with the ability to self-start.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10-15% of the time, primarily for in-person meetings and business reviews with high-value clients.
