BACKGROUND


As a nonprofit focused on fostering a culture of community involvement and giving, the Fiesta Bowl organization hosts a variety of local events, as well as two elite college football bowl games every year - the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

 

The Fiesta Bowl’s vision is to be a world-class community organization that executes innovative experiences, drives economic growth, and champions charitable causes, inspiring pride in all Arizonans. As a nonprofit organization, it believes in the importance of community outreach and service.

 

In an effort to help enhance Arizona communities through youth, sports and education, Fiesta Bowl Charities commits more than $3 million in annual charitable giving, the most of any college football bowl organization. Over the last seven years, Fiesta Bowl Charities has donated more than $23 million in charitable giving to nonprofit organizations across the state.

 

Since 1971, the Fiesta Bowl organization has worked to increase its footprint across the state and to benefit Arizonans year-round, during and outside of bowl season.

 

SUMMARY

 

The Vice President of Corporate Partnership & Development will play a critical role in developing and executing strategies to build and maintain corporate partnerships that support and amplify the Foundation’s goals. This leader will be responsible for leading innovative partnership and activation programs, designing elements that create first-in-class experiences for partners. Under the leadership of the Senior VP, Corporate Partnerships and Activation, managing a team of sales/activation professionals who create revenue opportunities for the organization. The executive in this role will also generate revenue opportunities for Foundation’s philanthropic arm (“Fiesta Bowl Charities”), enabling robust and consistent funding of mission-centric charitable endeavors. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a passion for leveraging sports to make a positive impact. Additionally, the successful candidate will bring a high level of understanding to the team related to greater corporate and philanthropic context of Arizona, developing partnerships that aid the growth of the organization in all its mission-driven goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead the strategy and execution of partnership and activation programs, aligning with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with donors, corporate and community partners, ensuring a high level of fulfillment on partnership agreements and overall satisfaction in engagement with the Foundation.
  • Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities, expanding our network and impact by continually developing new leads, while directing members of the team appropriately to engage potential partners.
  • Seek to create new philanthropic revenue for the organization’s charitable endeavors. Identify long term partners for legacy projects while also growing the corpus of Fiesta Bowl Charities Foundation through individual and corporate donors.
  • Work alongside community relations team on the development and execution of revenue generating strategies that align with philanthropic programs and donors.
  • Manage and mentor a team of partnership and sales professionals, setting goals and ensuring their professional development. Directly work with staff to find new opportunities, overcome challenges, and reach targeted metrics for revenue generation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate partnership initiatives across the organization effectively, utilizing relationships within the staff and volunteer landscapes of the organization to foster first-in-class experiences for partners.
  • Oversee the development of partnership proposals, presentations, and reports, ensuring high quality and alignment with partner and organizational goals.
  • Represent the organization at external events, including important community and philanthropic arenas, enhancing its visibility and reputation in the business, civic and philanthropic communities.
  • Monitor industry trends, staying ahead of the curve related to corporate and partnership strategies in the ever-changing environment of college athletics and live events.
  • Create and enhance the Resource Development arm of Fiesta Bowl Charities, including but not limited to, individual and corporate donor-relationships management, donor tracking, and gift management.
  • Lay the groundwork for planned giving for the organization’s charitable foundation, creating the system by which donations are cultivated, solicited, tracked and accounted for to ensure future philanthropic mission endeavors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, sports management, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in partnership development, preferably in the sports, live events or nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop talent.
  • Strong background in philanthropy and non-profit business practices, understanding the nuances of charitable giving as it relates to corporate revenue and activation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a creative approach to partnership and activation.
  • Deep understanding of the sports industry, corporate sponsorship, and activation strategies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values and mission of the Foundation.
