BACKGROUND

 

The Mubadala DC Open, played in Washington, D.C., is one of the world’s premier tennis events and benefits the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF). Founded in 1969 by Donald Dell, John Harris, and Arthur Ashe in Rock Creek Park, the event was built on a vision of making professional tennis accessible for all athletes and fans in the Washington community.


In 2019, venture capitalist and D.C. native Mark Ein’s organization, MDE Tennis, began operating the tournament. The Mubadala DC Open is the only combined ATP and WTA 500-level event on the global tour calendar and one of just five combined ATP/WTA tournaments in the United States. After 55 years, it remains the longest-running professional tennis event at the same site in the country.

 

SUMMARY

 

The Senior Director, Corporate Partnership Solutions will oversee the day-to-day management, execution, and activation of corporate partnership accounts for the Mubadala DC Open. This leader will deliver exceptional client service, develop impactful marketing activations, and support the Senior Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, in driving innovation, value, and growth for all partners.


The ideal candidate will bring creativity, strategic thinking, and organizational excellence to ensure partnership deliverables are executed to the highest standard. This role will also collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to design customized presentations, proposals, and recap materials that strengthen relationships and maximize sponsorship impact.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support the SVP, Corporate Partnerships, in developing and executing partnership strategies that create integrated, meaningful brand alignments.
  • Manage all aspects of sponsorship activation, ensuring fulfillment of contractual obligations and delivery of world-class client service.
  • Lead the development of customized sales materials, proposals, presentations, and post-event recap reports.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors to plan and execute partnership campaigns and event deliverables.
  • Identify upsell and renewal opportunities to increase annual sponsor investment.
  • Utilize research tools (YouGov Sport, SponsorUnited, etc.) to evaluate partnership performance and uncover growth opportunities.
  • Coordinate with freelance and contractor teams to ensure smooth on-site activation during the tournament.
  • Oversee key sponsorship elements including signage, ticketing, and digital asset management.
  • Recruit, train, and manage interns while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Manage additional special projects and initiatives as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in corporate partnership activation within a major sports event, team, or league.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute creative, results-driven sponsorship programs.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Availability to work non-traditional hours and on-site during the full length of the tournament, including pre-event preparation.

 

COMPENSATION


  • Base Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000
  • Bonus Potential: Discretionary annual bonus
