BACKGROUND
The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) is a multi-disciplinary cultural hub in Mumbai, India, founded by Nita M. Ambani to preserve and promote Indian arts and heritage globally. The Centre features three performing arts theatres, a dedicated visual arts space known as the Art House, and curated public art installations. NMACC hosts a wide range of Indian and global artists and productions, including Broadway-caliber shows, large-scale theatre productions, cultural festivals, and fashion exhibitions.
NMACC’s mission is to provide world-class infrastructure for artists while making the arts accessible to a broad and diverse audience through robust programming and immersive cultural experiences. SUMMARY
The Deputy / Head – Experiences & Events will lead the end-to-end planning, production, and execution of all experiences, productions, and large-scale events under the Experiences & Events vertical. This includes NMACC-led shows, Grand Theatre productions, touring formats, and the conceptualization and delivery of festivals and original cultural IPs.
This role requires a senior leader with deep operational expertise and creative sensibility, capable of delivering world-class live experiences while balancing artistic integrity, financial discipline, and operational excellence. The position is structured to strengthen leadership capacity, ensure executional consistency, and build long-term continuity for the Experiences & Events function.
RESPONSIBILITIES
NMACC Touring Productions
- Oversee the planning, production, and delivery of all NMACC-led shows and experiential formats, ensuring the highest creative, technical, and audience standards.
- Lead operational planning, logistics, and execution for touring and traveling productions within India and internationally.
- Ensure consistency of quality, brand integrity, and audience experience across all venues and formats.
- Collaborate closely with the Programming Head to translate artistic and curatorial vision into seamless operational delivery.
IP & Festival Development
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute new festivals and original cultural IPs in partnership with creative, programming, and strategy teams.
- Develop and scale recurring IPs that balance artistic depth with strong audience engagement and commercial viability.
- Collaborate across Reliance businesses to extend these IPs into broader cultural, brand, and audience ecosystems.
Project Management & Delivery
- Oversee the execution of all projects within the Experiences & Events vertical, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, safety protocols, and creative benchmarks.
- Establish and optimize systems for production planning, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational risks and challenges to maintain high delivery standards.
- Serve as the senior decision-maker and escalation point for production and project teams.
Financial Management & P&L Ownership
- Own budgets and P&L for all Experiences & Events initiatives, ensuring financial discipline and cost optimization.
- Partner with Finance and Strategy teams to forecast, track, and report performance across productions, festivals, and IPs.
- Evaluate financial outcomes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, margins, and monetization.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop producers, project managers, and production specialists to drive accountability and excellence.
- Work closely with Programming, Marketing, Strategy, Partnerships, and Operations teams to ensure cohesive execution from concept to delivery.
- Represent the Experiences & Events vertical in leadership forums and external stakeholder engagements as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies & Skills
- Strategic leadership across creative production and large-scale event execution
- Deep understanding of event curation, live production, and brand-led experiences
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing complex budgets and P&Ls
- Exceptional stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with artists, vendors, and partners
Education
- Graduate degree in Business or a related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Event Management, or a related discipline preferred
Experience
- 20+ years of experience curating and executing large-scale events, productions, or festivals
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership or management role within events, live entertainment, theatre, or experiential production
- Experience with global event management, touring productions, festivals, or internationally scaled programming preferred
