Software Engineer

Performance Objectives

• Deliver production features end-to-end within 90 days: design, implement, test, and ship services that meet defined SLAs for latency, availability, and security.
• Reduce mean time to detect and resolve production issues by 30% in your first two quarters through better observability, runbooks, and automated diagnostics.
• Raise code quality: drive pull-request standards, increase automated test coverage on critical paths, and cut escaped defects quarter over quarter.
• Own a service or subsystem: define APIs, capacity, and failure modes; keep it healthy under real traffic and evolving requirements.
• Partner with product, design, and SRE to ship measurable customer outcomes—not just tickets—on a predictable cadence.
• Mentor peers through design reviews and pairing; leave the codebase and team stronger than you found them.
• Apply AI-assisted development responsibly to accelerate implementation and reviews without sacrificing correctness or security.

Environment & Resources

You will join a cross-functional engineering team with product, design, and operations partners. You report to an engineering manager and work in a modern stack with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and internal developer platforms. Budget and tooling exist to instrument, load-test, and operate what you ship. Collaboration is global and async-first, with clear ownership and on-call rotations that respect sustainable pace.

Essential Qualifications

• Proven track record shipping production backend or full-stack systems at scale (distributed services, data stores, APIs).
• Ability to design for failure: retries, idempotency, observability, and security as first-class concerns.
• Strong coding craft in at least one systems language and comfort reading others; evidence of reviews that improve both code and people.
• Experience operating what you build: metrics, logs, traces, and incident response—not just “it works on my machine.”
• Clear written communication: design docs, RFCs, and status that executives and peers can act on.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent practical experience delivering software used by real customers.
