Plant Accountant

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a proactive finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is passionate about driving process improvements, enhancing financial visibility, and partnering closely with plant leadership.


Core Technical Skills

 Cost Accounting: A deep understanding of cost behavior, including raw materials,

direct labor, and overhead allocation.

 Inventory Management: Experience in tracking, valuing, and auditing raw

materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.

 ERP Systems: Proficiency in manufacturing software for managing supply chain

and production data. 

o Previous experience in iSeries, Syteline, PeopleSoft or AS400 nice but not

required if previous experience in multiple ERP systems.


 Variance Analysis: Analyzing differences between planned costs and actual costs

to identify inefficiencies.

o Previous experience working in multiple cost environments (standard and

actual) preferred but not required.

o Previous experience working with LIFO, FIFO and specific costing and lot

tracking preferred but not required.


 Financial Reporting & Compliance: Knowledge of GAAP, month-end closing, and

industry-specific regulations. 

 Software: Strong Excel skills with prior experience in Pivot Tables and Queries. 

Prior experience with PowerBi preferred.

 Physical Inventory: Prior experience performing physical inventory

 Audit: Prior experience assisting with annual audits

 

Operational and Analytical Skills

 Production Process Knowledge: Understanding the operational side of the

business to connect financial data with production efficiency.

 Profitability Analysis: Evaluating product-line profitability to support strategic

decision-making.

 Budgeting and Forecasting: Developing accurate financial forecasts for

production, capital expenditures, and operational needs.


 Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in tracking complex inventory and

financial records. 

 Organization & Time Management: Handling multiple projects and meeting

deadlines.

 

Soft Skills

 Communication: Ability to explain financial data to non-finance stakeholders,

ranging from plant floor staff to executives.

 Problem-Solving: Using data to drive cost reduction and process improvements.

 Relationship Management: Building credibility across various departments. 

 

Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

 Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant

(CPA) preferred but experience may be substituted

 Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environments

* Big 4 Accounting Strongly Preferred*
