Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Saskatoon, SK

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-5

About Our Client

Catalyst Talent Solutions wasn’t built to fit into the temporary staffing space. It was sparked to stand apart.

Catalyst was created at the intersection of grit and growth. Catalyst talent is known for being hardworking, loyal, quietly fierce, and always ready to move. They weren’t built to be another vendor in the stack.

Catalyst exists to be the embedded edge that businesses trust when the pressure’s on

and the outcome matters. High trust execution. High performance talent. No fluff.

The Opportunity

This opportunity is built for a Mechanical Engineer who thrives in collaborative, high-accountability environments and wants real exposure to how projects move from concept to operation.

You’ll be embedded within multidisciplinary project teams supporting the design and execution of mechanical systems for capital projects. Working alongside senior engineers, project managers, contractors, vendors, and site personnel, you’ll contribute directly to delivery across multiple project stages, bringing clarity, precision, and follow-through to complex work.

This role offers hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, from early studies and detailed design through construction support and commissioning. You’ll be trusted to communicate clearly, solve problems thoughtfully, and maintain a high standard of technical and organizational discipline. Safety, quality, and continuous improvement aren’t checkboxes here, they’re how the work gets done.

If you’re looking to deepen your practical engineering experience inside an environment that values strong judgment, collaboration, and execution under pressure, this role gives you the space to grow while doing work that matters.

This role is best suited to candidates based in or near Saskatoon. A living-out allowance (LOA) is generally not applicable.

Key Responsibilities

·        Delivering mechanical engineering from concept through execution. You’ll perform conceptual and detailed mechanical design for existing and new uranium mining and milling operations, ensuring designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with operational realities.

·        Driving equipment readiness. You’ll prepare equipment specifications, data sheets, and tender documentation, supporting procurement activities and expediting orders to keep construction and installation on schedule.

·        Ensuring technical and regulatory integrity. You’ll ensure mechanical and piping systems meet technical requirements, internal and industry standards, and all regulatory and QA/QC expectations—without compromise.

·        Supporting complex, multidisciplinary projects. You’ll support engineering, construction, and operations teams from early design through construction and commissioning.

·        Coordinating fabrication and construction requests. You’ll coordinate information requests during fabrication and construction, as well as in shop and site visits as required to ensure compliance with codes and schedules and acceptance of approved design.

·        Providing trusted technical support. You’ll act as a mechanical subject matter resource to other departments as needed, offering practical guidance that keeps work moving.

·        Stepping in where needed. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

·        Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGS

·        Minimum 5 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, preferably within mining, heavy industrial, or process plant environments

·        Experience supporting projects across the full lifecycle, from early studies and detailed design through construction and commissioning

·        Knowledge of mechanical and piping codes and standards (ASME, BPVC, API)

·        Experience with equipment specification, procurement support, and vendor technical evaluations

·        Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and interface with contractors, vendors, and site personnel

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills

·        High attention to detail with strong problem-solving and organizational skills

·        Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
