Title: Pipefitter

Location: McLean Lake, SK | Camp Accommodation and Travel Allowance

Shift Schedule: Shutdown Project from April 7th to 24th

Our Client

PBN Construction is more than a construction company. Proudly Indigenous-owned, PBN has grown from a northern-focused operation into a diversified, Saskatchewan-based organization with a strong and expanding footprint across the province. From large-scale earthworks to complex, multi-million-dollar infrastructure and mining support projects, PBN is known for reliability, safety, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Beyond traditional construction, PBN plays a critical role in supporting mining operations, delivering project management, site supervision, underground construction, maintenance, and heavy equipment operation. Their teams work where the action is: in high-performance, industrial environments that demand precision, safety, and teamwork.

At the core of PBN’s success is a culture rooted in accountability, continuous improvement, and pride in craftsmanship. If you’re a skilled trades professional who values safety, respects the work, and takes ownership of doing the job right, you’ll fit right in.

The Opportunity

PBN Construction is seeking an experienced Pipefitter to support a shutdown project at McLean Lake. This is a hands-on, high-impact role working on critical mining equipment and mechanical systems.

Shutdown work requires focus, efficiency, and strong collaboration. You will be part of a skilled team responsible for ensuring essential equipment is serviced, repaired, and operational, safely and on schedule.

If you’re the type of tradesperson who enjoys troubleshooting complex mechanical systems, working in tight-knit crews, and delivering results under pressure, this is your opportunity to step into a project where your skills truly matter.

Key Responsibilities

As a Pipefitter, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Installation & Maintenance

  • Install, maintain, and repair gas-fired equipment and piping systems.
  • Perform maintenance on plumbing-related equipment.
  • Install and repair ABS, Copper, HDPE, PVC, and Steel piping systems.
  • Repair and troubleshoot HVAC systems.
  • Support propane distribution systems and mine air heating systems.

2. Inspection, Testing & QA/QC

  • Use testing equipment to check for leaks and ensure system integrity.
  • Perform QA/QC checks on all work completed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and code requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and recordkeeping.

3. Troubleshooting & Team Collaboration

  • Diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment efficiently.
  • Work from blueprints and P&IDs with precision.
  • Follow daily instructions with limited supervision.
  • Work collaboratively within a crew to maintain productivity and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with site teams and other departments.
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively to keep shutdown timelines on track.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification as a Pipefitter (Saskatchewan Apprenticeship & Trade Certification Commission preferred). Fourth-year apprentices will be considered.
  • Underground mining experience (strongly preferred).
  • Minimum five years of combined experience including:
  • Mine air heating
  • Propane distribution systems
  • Residential/commercial HVAC systems
  • Fire system maintenance
  • Valid GMSA (General Mine Safety Awareness).
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid WHMIS and SCOT training.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in underground conditions.
  • Comfort working shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight work as required.
  • You must be safety-driven, dependable, and comfortable working in diverse and demanding environments.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; experience with QuickBooks Desktop is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a transaction-heavy environment.
  • What Our Client Offers
  • Competitive hourly compensation based on experience
  • Camp accommodations and travel allowance
  • A workplace committed to safety, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • A professional and team-oriented environment within Saskatchewan’s mining sector
  • The opportunity to contribute to a high-impact shutdown project

This is a fixed-term contract position running April 7-24, 2026.
