The Opportunity

As the Engineering Lead, you will work closely with the leadership team, supporting the planning and delivery of high impact solutions to multiple industries. This is a hands-on role where you’ll apply your technical expertise while providing day-to-day leadership as you guide a growing team while staying actively involved in project execution.

To support this momentum, they need a practical, detail-driven team lead who can mentor junior staff, coordinate project workflows, and support continuous improvement efforts across departments.


 

 

Key Responsibilities

As the Engineering Lead, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

Technical Leadership & Team Support

• Guide and support the daily work of engineers and drafters, offering mentorship and troubleshooting as needed.

• Review and contribute to engineering designs, fabrication plans, and machining processes, collaborating between departments to ensure smooth project flow.

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in engineering practices and processes.

Project & Process Improvement

• Lead assigned engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery, high quality standards and alignment with strategic goals.

• Assist with scope definition, scheduling, resource planning, and risk assessments for current and upcoming jobs.

• Work cross-functionally with fabrication, machining and leadership teams to drive operational improvements.

• Identify opportunities to improve quality, workflow, and cost-efficiency across engineering operations.

Client Coordination & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as a technical point of contact on projects, ensuring client needs align with their specifications and industry standards.

• Collaborate closely with operations, leadership, and front-line teams to meet project milestones and customer expectations.

• Participate in business development opportunities, including representing Goodman Steel at industry events like SIMSA.

• Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to continually improve production efficiency.


 

Qualifications

As the of Engineering Lead, you will bring:

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical or structural preferred.

• Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation from APEGS or another province.

• 4-7 years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing, machining, or steel fabrication.

• Demonstrated experience guiding small engineering teams or mentoring junior engineers and drafters.

• Project coordination or technical leadership in a fast-paced, detail-oriented setting.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle priorities, collaborate across departments, and keep projects moving forward.

• Additional certifications in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or PMP would be considered an asset.
