The Opportunity

This role offers an opportunity to build a painting and sandblasting division within a well-established organization from the ground up. More than managing a team, you will be part of influencing a division within the organization, driving growth, leading strategy and delivering quality work on some of Saskatchewan’s most important projects. Key Responsibilities

Division Leadership & Strategic Development

  • Lead, manage and grow the Sandblasting & Painting division, defining strategic goals and operational standards.
  • Oversee all division related responsibilities including, managing financial performance and budget accountability.
  • Lead recruitment and retention initiatives, creating strength and stability in workforce development.
  • Actively participate in workforce planning, hiring strategies, and employee development, particularly prioritizing Indigenous community involvement and growth.
  • Mentor and develop team members, promoting internal skill development and advancement opportunities, especially within Indigenous communities.

Client Relationship & Business Development

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships with major industry clients.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through active participation in the RFP process, including technical proposals, pricing strategies, and negotiations.
  • Represent the division professionally, building the firm’s reputation as a preferred partner.

Project Execution & Technical Oversight

  • Oversee operational aspects of sandblasting and painting projects, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with client requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members during planning, execution and completion of projects.
  • Regularly visit project sites, maintaining a presence to ensure smooth operations and provide effective team management.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in sandblasting and painting, ideally someone who started in the field and has advanced through progressive leadership roles.
  • Strong business acumen and proven capability in managing financial, operational, and strategic aspects of a division or large projects.
  • Previous experience in a project management role, preferably in the construction industry is highly beneficial.  
  • Commitment to Indigenous engagement and supporting community growth initiatives.
  • Experience or demonstrated capability to lead large, multi-discipline crews.
  • Must be willing to visit remote job sites as needed.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage others and many facets of the construction project and assume overall responsibility.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of building process, costs, and scheduling.
