Title: Estimating Manager

Location: Saskatoon, SK | In Office

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-5

Our Client

PBN Construction is more than a construction company. Proudly Indigenous-owned, PBN has grown from a northern-focused operation into a diversified, Saskatchewan-based organization with a strong and expanding footprint across the province. From large-scale earthworks to complex, multi-million-dollar infrastructure and mining support projects, PBN is known for reliability, safety, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Beyond traditional construction, PBN plays a critical role in supporting mining operations, delivering project management, site supervision, underground construction, maintenance, and heavy equipment operation. Their teams work where the action is: in high-performance, industrial environments that demand precision, safety, and teamwork.

At the core of PBN’s success is a culture rooted in accountability, continuous improvement, and pride in craftsmanship. If you’re a skilled trades professional who values safety, respects the work, and takes ownership of doing the job right, you’ll fit right in.

The Opportunity

Every successful project starts with a number. At PBN Construction, that number drives strategy, protects margin, and shapes the company’s future.

As Estimating Manager, you will lead the estimating function at a pivotal stage of growth. You will guide bid strategy, assess risk, validate assumptions, and ensure every estimate reflects real world construction methods and strong commercial judgment.

Working closely with operations and senior leadership, you will build consistency, strengthen systems, and mentor a team committed to precision and accountability.

This is more than preparing bids. It is leading with clarity, protecting the company’s financial health, and influencing the projects that define its future.

  • Present estimate summaries, assumptions, clarifications, and recommendations to senior leadership.

2. Quality Control & Risk Management

  • Ensure strict adherence to standardized estimating checklists and processes.
  • Validate scope completeness, pricing assumptions, labour rates, equipment costs, subcontractor quotes, overhead structures, and margin strategies.
  • Confirm consistency and clarity in all assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications to reduce ambiguity and protect the company commercially.
  • Assess project risks and collaborate with operations to validate constructability and execution plans.
  • Drive improvement in proposal quality, professionalism, and alignment with client expectations.

3. Systems, Standards & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and update estimating standards, templates, and tools (primarily standardized Excel-based systems).
  • Develop and maintain historical cost databases to improve forecasting accuracy.
  • Analyze past project performance to refine pricing strategies and increase win rates.
  • Foster a collaborative estimating culture focused on mentorship, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners to secure reliable market data and competitive pricing.
